The first time I saw him play was at the Up and Under Pub on Brady in Milwaukee back around 35 years ago. My buddy and I walked into their jam session and found this tall dude on stage just crankin’ away on a Strat. No pedals, no effects, just the guitar plugged into an amp, and then when he hands the guitar back to its owner I find out it’s not even his guitar, that he was just sitting in. Really an excellent player!
