Is each whisker trimmed to the same length or are they all cut at the bottom, so those closer to the nose are longer than those below?

The latter.

For years now I have had a really long goatee beard but keep my moustage thinned out with the medium trim head on my clippers. I would love to have a great bushy moustache ala Bob Weir for example but I suffer from chronic rhinitus and if it gets too bushy it tickles inside my nose and starts me sneezing.

I trim the part over my mouth at the bottom to keep it out of my mouth/food but let the corner mustache hairs grow long and go mingle with their buddies amongst my beard whiskers.
So I guess I most closely resemble category #2.

I use a #2 attachment for my mustache and beard.

My nose hair augments by ‘stache

My nose hair augments by ‘stache When disturbed, do they retract into your nostrils like the tentacles of a sea anemone?
Could complicate nose picking...

At my age, other than staying clean, I don't get all that meticulous with personal grooming.
I don't think the ladies are paying all that much attention, at this stage of the game...

Any of you guys still wearing the mustache and no beard look? I feel like that has virtually disappeared from existence, the only guys left doing it have been doing it forever, like my Dad. He was only clean shaven for one time period I recall when I was quite young, and it was totally weird to see him without it.

Kinda wish I could do the Greg Allman approach. Hire an expert.

I also trim the bottom and let the sides straggle into beard territory.

It depends.
When I periodically trim it back I will crop it pretty tight to the skin. As it grows I will trim it in a "touch-up fashion bringing it more and more all to the upper lip.
I have had this mustache since May 27 1975 (that was the day I graduated form high school) and it's never been absent since that day.
I have never had a beard. I'm not even sure I could grow a decent beard.
Edited to add: I did not place a vote.

My 'stache naturally grows to the left and right of the philtrum rather than straight down so a comb a couple times a day generally keeps the whiskers out of my chili.
I do get an occasional nonconformist -- I give it day or two fall in line. Otherwise it gets the scissors.
