I just ordered a Mesa Boogie Subway TT-800 Bass amp head from Sweetwater. Has triple tube preamp and Class D 800 Watt RMS output @ 4 and 2 ohms. I still have 2 complete sets of 12AX7 tubes that I bought for the Genz Benz Streamliner 600 I used to have, still new in boxes. Guess they will get some use eventually.
Can't wait. I have a Fender Rumble 800 head that I will use as backup if the need ever rises.
Hushnel, You were the one that got me to thinking about this amp as you stated the Same person "Aged Horse" that designed the Streamliner designed this one.

Andy Field still services the Streamliner amps , I sent mine to him last year . It was not expensive and it’s like a new amp . It’s my backup should my Bergantino ever go down . And he’s been busy designing the Subway series for Mesa . He’s created some gorgeous stuff and the TT800 is his most recent creation . There have been problems with the supply chain , good to hear your’s is on the way .

Since I added the GB Shuttle 9.0 it’s coveres everything I need. I purchased this amp back in 2009. My friend had a music shop and it wasn’t selling. He let me have it at his cost.

***CORRECTION: The amp has 3 sets of 12AX7 Preamp tubes like the Streamliner 600/900 series did and not 2. What I like about Andy Field's designs is that he does not run them "cold" where they barely have enough voltage to operate like many others do/did. He runs them at about 300 volts DC I believe. Makes for a better tone.

Aren’t they 12AT7s in the Mesa? I just started reading the online manual and you are correct Eric. Sorry Also say’s if you prefer a cleaner tone when driven a 12AU7 may be substituted in certain positions

I have to look into purchasing this Mesa amp. My main rig is (and has been for many years) an Aguilar DB680 preamp into a Crown K2 that does everything I’ve ever wanted/needed on stage or in the studio. My small club/low volume rig has utilized an Eden WTX500 that does have a tendency to clip or get lost in the mix if not run through the board so the Mesa amp sounds like a tad more muscle in a, still, small package.

I think it would help in the club you use the Eden for. Your Aguilar/Crown setup sounds nice! I have played through a guy's Small Aguilar combo amp during a practice in house and it sounded great

The TT800 is a great amp ! First thing I’d buy if I was looking for an amp . But I’m well amped for the time being .
There’s an enormous thread over on TalkBass about the TT800 , 191 pages and Andy Field (agedhorse) frequently contributes , so it’s worth reading …

Lots of good information. Andy wrote the best manual for the TT-800. The information is outstanding! It is easy to understand and the explanation of how it works and how the foot switch works is really nice. Since the footswitch is unavailable anywhere at this time he gave me enough information to make my own. It shows out for delivery today.

I gotta say Andy is an incredible resource . He’s quite active on TalkBass and his posts are always interesting . And that thread is well worth pounding through the 191 pages . I was lucky to start reading it when it began , and still do . I look forward to hearing your impressions of the amp once you’ve spent some time with it .

Get acquainted and spin the knobs , what cab are you running with it ? The Subway cabs have been getting wonderful reviews … I have 3 GK cabs. 112 with Eminence Kappalite 3012HO 450watt Rms NEO 112 with Eminence Kappalite 3012 LS 450watt Rms NEO 115 with Eminence Kappa Pro LFA-2 600 watt Rms ( boat anchor magnet lol ) Already played tru 115 and 112 with LS speaker last night at lower volume so as not to wake up my wife. Was able to easily get good tones with my Fender Jazz. Today I am going to run all 3 cabs together using P bass, Gretsch G5440 and ESP LTD 5 string active. On the Jazz I had to crank gain all way. With Active I will start at 9oclock

Yeah, Eminence are some of the Best out there. Their Engineers told me they under rate the wattage rating
Leftee, have you or anyone else used Genelex Gold Lion tubes? If so what is your opinion of them. I know they are more expensive than some others.
BTW: Your Avatar looks like a 21st Century Robber

BTW - NOS 12AT7s and 12UA7s are reasonably-priced. Thank you Leftee. I spoke with Andy Field the designer and he told me "The stock tubes were selected because of their low noise (especially microphonics), well defined operating point and long reliable life. I do not recommend changing tubes unless there is an identified problem. We are shipping graded and screened TungSol tubes which were by far the best of all the tubes I tested. Some had out of spec fallout rates of over 50%!!!"
I have used Tungsol 12AX7's in V1 slot of the Genz Benz Streamliner 600 (he also designed these) and they were phenomenol (bigger fatter output) but have no previous experience with 12AT/AU7's . In years past the NOS RCA 12AX7 "black plate" was really good but like I said I have had little experience with 12AT7 and 12AU7

The amp was initially perplexing to me as the Boogie Channel operates to cover different types of amps (from my understanding) but is getting better as I work with it. Truly great tone
The Boogie Channel has phenomenal tone but it works differently than the typical preamp. I finally set it to the suggested settings in the manual for Classic Rock and what a tone! The Subway Channel operates more like a stereotypical amp in that the mid range frequency is adjustable from 150Hz to 2Khz and the amount of mids is set by the Mid control. I like around 800 hz for more low mids

I picked up a Bass VI a while back , and have been playing it a lot . I was never much of a pedal guy , but after some research decided to pick up a Fender TreVerb pedal for it . And I’ve been using it every day just to fool around on . Guilty pleasure . Now recently I’ve been thinking I could use a gain pedal to gnarl it up a bit . I usually plug it into a little GK MB200 and a little Phil Jones cab . Recently a couple of Darkglass pedals have surfaced on kijiji but they seem to cater more to the modern metal crowd . I’m really looking for something more subtle , more like simple tube warmth . Well I discovered that Andy Field has been working on some pedals with Jeff Genzler ! And last summer they created a gain pedal that looks like it might be exactly what I’m looking for . It has high and low pass filters , and four gain levels . Reviews are great , videos have got me pretty much sold . I was thinking I might pick one up after Christmas , we don’t have any Genzler dealers around , and then found a good price on one from Ottawa . Should be delivered Thursday ! And it should pair up nicely with my gig rig if I ever decide to go there …

i.imgur.com/LPzDCBA.jpgI added another 15” cab. Wow what low end nice low mids smooth highs From Horn I built years ago that has a Frequency response 1.5khz to about 4khz I have an Eminence Kappalite 3015 450 watts RMS in lower cab and an Eminence Kappa Pro LFA-2 600 watts RMS. Amplifier is a Mesa Boogie TT-800 Has incredible Low end, nice mids and smooth highs. With my 5 string Active Bass.Much better than my 2 12" cabs. Now all that I have to do is clean up the mess on the floor an store the boxes
