It's a Yamaha MG 16...
We're getting good sound in the room running the guitars thru the PA because the female singer, the drummer and I are using the Carvin wireless IEM's. One guitarist has a Head Rush unit, the other a Boss. No guitar amps in the room.
But I'm having issues separating any monitor mix that we can use from the "mains". And since it's a rented room we never really got a good 'do this, do that' from the owner...I think they thought we knew what we were doing.
When I use the Monitor Outs, the signals are equally affected when using the Main channel faders...the sound is louder or quieter on the IEM's, but also in the room.
There are also 4 AUX outputs and I was REALLY hoping to use some stereo ninja skills to get the one guitar all the way left and the other guitar all the way right in our IEM's, but after 2 attempts using AUX 1 and AUX 2 into the IEM's, I just made the headsets MONO. And once again, it seems like the Aux faders have less control than the main L/R outputs. Turning the main channel faders up and down is the same on the IEM's and the room.
Here's the manual:
And if anyone can translate this phrase into English and get me what I'd like, I'd be most appreciative! This is on page 18:
"The levels of each signal sent to the AUX 1 – 4 buses from each channel can be adjusted independently.
On stereo input channels, the Line L (odd) and Line R (even) input signals are mixed before being sent to each AUX bus.
Adjust the knobs so that they are near or at the “t” (nominal) position.
NOTE• The [AUX1] knob indicated “PRE” adjusts the level of the pre-fader signal (before fader adjustment).

switch on [AUX1] and [AUX2] can be used to select whether the pre-fader () (the signal before fader adjustment) or post fader () (the signal after fader adjust-ment) signal is sent to the AUX bus by theswitch.
The [AUX4/FX] and [AUX2/FX] knobs are used to adjust the level of the signal sent to the FX bus (built-in effects) in addition to the AUX bus.
The same signal level is sent to the AUX buses and FX buses connected to these knobs."
So do I need to engage the "pre-fader" switches in order to get independant signals to AUX's and MAIN's? Or is it something else? It didn't seem to make a huge difference when I tried them!!
I'm out over my skis on this, I know!
