There has already been a fair amount of talk about this website in other forums. There are a lot of false narratives going on out there that I wish to address.
1. Chris is not running this site behind the scenes. If he wanted to be running a forum, he would be and I wouldn’t be. He’s a moderator because he has experience doing so and I need the help. He moderates in accordance with standards that I have set forward, as do the other mods. If they didn’t, they wouldn’t be mods.
2. I was quite clear that the rules here would be the same as the FDP, which are basically be civil, no religion, no politics. I added no FDP bashing because that’s not what this site is for. This is a continuation of what the FDP was offering to its members at the time it closed. We aren’t going to have people coming here to disrupt that mission.
3. That said, I was similarly clear that everyone was welcome here, regardless of their status on the FDP. Some folks didn’t agree with that. But that’s my rule. Some other folks have been intent on making themselves unwelcome, and we’re not going to have people like that here. Very few people have been shown the door. If any of them tell you a reason they were banned, they’re lying. I haven’t given out any reasons. Nobody here has been banned for content, the only bans have been for people intent on coming here with an anti-FDP agenda. It’s not going to happen.
4. I will continue the mission of keeping this a civil place where all are welcome until they make themselves otherwise. I hope all of you will join me.

To repeat what I'd posted on the FDP, I ran the FDP for 22 years and am now 69. It was simply time to call it a day and nothing more than that. I gave the membership fair warning that I was going to close the site and if someone wanted to create a new forum along the lines of what we were doing, I'd help them if I could. That's why there's a link pointing to this site from the old one. I've given Mike advice on how to do things. He's taken some of it and rejected some of it. MT2 is Mike's site and he's the new boss. Hell, he won't even let me ban anyone! Same as it was on the FDP, only I or reverendrob could ban someone, not the mods. And if Rob banned someone, I could override the decision (although I don't recall a time that I did). Mike is the boss and I report to him, not vice versa.

I read the thread you are referencing. I've been a thread killer in forums when I didn't mean to be but was happy to "do that honor" to that thread.

I made the same observation, earlier today, when I opined (in a post over there):
"I'd guess that there are folks (here) who went to Moes2.0 just to see how far they could push things before they'd get the boot".
FWIW, my opinion remains that rumors/badmouthing and $5.48 would buy me a latte at Starbuck's.

Although I have no way of knowing, for certain, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the people on the other place thought when they came over here lol. I implied as much in a response I posted, over there. That, pretty much, ended the thread with one exception but I wasn't about to be baited into further dialog so I responded with a comment couldn't be challenged. That DID end the thread.
Edited to add: At least it ended it for a few hours lol. I guess some people have nothing better to do that stir the pot.

I believe the name isn't important.
This is an online pubic forum...there are rules in place that dictate how this forum operates. 99% of the members are nothing more than an anonymous persona/character of the forum.
Following rules and being courteous isn't rocket science.
