@2005 I bought an Agile Tele-Copy and stickered it up in tribute to the American Volunteer Group. I still have that guitar. It now sports a set of Aaron's Black Knights.
But I figured it was time to try my hand at doing a proper rendition.
No pickguard, black hardware. I think it wants some brass knobs. Not sure yet.
First one to crack the "square neck" joke gets a strafing run.

Nails. I believe the original P40s were rivet construction.

Thats some nice nailing, not one hammer mark. Did you set them with a punch? Will you post another pick when complete, please?

Oh, there are hammer marks. And intentionally so.

Being a lifelong P40 fan, I would have placed the teeth on the lower bout.
But it certainly looks awesome.
Except for the fact that it's backwards.

I placed the decal there, but I just wasn’t feelin’ it.
Lifelong P40 fan here as well. “The Flying Tigers” was the first war movie I watched with my dad when I was about 5. It defined so much of the rest of my life, to include enlisting in the USAF.

Blood Chit decal is on the back.
Thanks so much for the suggestion.

A custom Blood Chit pickguard would've been cool, too.

My attention is compelled to drift in the direction of that well-worn guitar strap.

That turned out way cool! What’s next? A shiny metal clad P51? A camo schemed Spitfire? Maybe a blue/gray topside light gray underside Corsair?

My attention is compelled to drift in the direction of that well-worn guitar strap. I shopped straps for this guitar. It’s one off those, “oh! that’s the one,” moments.

Cool project. I might take a set of knobs to someone with a lathe, and see it I could get them turned to the right OD, so I could cut down a couple of empty .50 cal brass cases to press fit over them as the knobs.

Sold 😕
I know you knew that.
But yes. Must have.
I’m sourcing some casings. These shouldn’t be too hard to make.

I've worked on a guitar that had 12 ga. knobs, but honestly I thought they were kinda hokey.
Then again, it was a plain old PRS.

Yeah, that would be hokey… I agree. Unless the guitar was painted up like a pheasant.
This guitar begs for something different.

Secondly, maybe you could hunt down something that looks similar to a knob that would have been on an instrument panel? I love it as it is though great job!
