My son and I are going to the range today so he can check out the new Springfield Hellcat for his CCW. I'll post a report later.

CG, you need to wrap some electrical tape around that grip.
I've been carrying my 686 (2.5") when I walk my dog around the neighborhood. Seems we've got a coyote problem, 6-7 of them running around in broad daylight. I don't want to shoot them, but will if they go after my dog.

My close friend of many years used to have a nice gun collection.
Me, I've never owned one, but I did get to borrow many of his and shoot them at the local shooting shop years back.
Revolvers, 9MM, small hand guns, oddities.
But my fav was his Desert Eagle. 50 cal with conversion kit for smaller rounds, laser sight.
He gave me a supply of the most wicked .50 rounds to have fun with one time.
That thing was just silly fun, it was so mean that folks in the booths by me at the range complained about the power of the gun to the owner.
He was cool though, ( I had already shown him the guns we were going to shoot and the rounds I brought with, I also purchased many, many rounds from him there. We rang up quite a bill in ammo. He ended up moving us to an isolated specialty booth so as to not scare off any more customers.
My son, who was in the armed service at the time was shocked when he shot that thing, by time he emptied it he was standing almost 3 feet back from where he started!
Not a weapon to be trifled with by any means.

I’ve been experiencing a bit of a revolver renaissance the last few years, partially due to the influence of MJB and TeleThom (RIP, brother.) And my impending move to moose and bear country makes them more pertinent since I prefer revolvers for the woods. These two S&W L frame holster guns are a lot of fun, and practical too - a Model 619 in .357 Magnum, and a Model 69 in .44 Magnum. I was considering having the 619 sent out for an action job, but I probably won’t bother - I have a lock hole plug on order, and I’ll probably try beadblasting the finish after that and then add some highviz orange to the front sight. The 69 is pretty much done, I changed out the sights to a gold bead front and a Bowen Rough Country rear with a plain serrated blade. I’d like to find a Model 620 (similar to a Model 66 but L frame) to do the same sight thing that I did to the 69, they’d make a nice pair.

Coming into firearms at an early age, around 16 I saw a rifle kit, and I could afford it. I had only fired a rifle once and that was at a Marine Base with the Boy Scouts. So I built this rifle but I couldn’t quite understand it. There was no place to put the bullet. A while later, and unrelated, I came across a book in the public library on historical firearms. As I was looking through this book I started noticing similarities with the kit I put together and discovered that it was a Southern Mountain Flintlock rifle. I found a gun shop and the owner taught me all about shooting black powder. I still do and have built a few flintlocks since then. Anyhow my first hand gun was a Colt .45, it wasn’t long before I discovered the Remington New Army revolver. This was my side arm of choice for many years, I was well into my 20s before I owned a modern rifle arm, even it was relatively Primitive, the Winchester 94 30/30. Remington New Army .45 cap and ball black powder. 1911 about as modern as I get.

Big fan of the 1911's. I have at least five (trouble when you don't know just how many firearms you own). Here's my favorite, a 1944 Remington Rand.

At the moment, my collection consists of SIGs: a P320 Compact and a P365. I like the modularity of the 320 - I have several different grip modules for it, including the X-Compact grip. I'll probably pick up the XL grip for my 365 as well.

It's crazy what WWII era 1911s are going for nowadays. Have you surfed gunbroker lately?

I have and I was stunned. I've thought about listing it along with a couple AK's, a 3rd gen nickle/ivory Colt SSA .45LC, and one or two other things.
I told the story on the FDP but I traded a Bushmaster Varminter to a neighbor for this pistol which he'd paid $500 for including the holster, belt, and WWII era magazines. I was into the Vaminter $800 so we both felt good about the trade. I think he regrets it now. ;o)

I know a couple of guys that have the Sig P365 and enjoy them very much. I have a Ruger LCP Custom for pocket carry and a S&W Shield .45 for when I carry larger, and is also nice as a house pistol.

A good friend is looking hard at a P365 SAS. Nice guns, but I’m too used to the Glock trigger. My LCP is actually spending most of the time in the safe, a Glock 42 has pretty much replaced it for pocket carry. I shoot the 42 *much* better.

ere's my Springfield 1911 Mil-Spec. I removed the checkered wood grips and put on these Hogue rubber grips. They have a great tackiness and I like the blacked out look. Woody, what are those two nice pistols? One looks like an early pre-1911 without the grip safety. And that Beretta looks rather vintage and interesting, too.

Dolemite: In looking at the picture of your Acme pistol, I noticed that it's the Brazilian model. The spelling, "Desentigration" is the dead giveaway. There have been problems noted on this South American model, mainly with the vaporizing texture port (AE-89-CC 01). Users have reported that the "Stun" setting does not actually drop the target, but instead causes explosive diarrhea. Using the wide field dispersion on this setting, may cause unforeseen problems, especially in closed settings, like commercial jets and elevators.

wiredog, The Beretta is a model 84BB in .380. It is Israeli surplus. I like it very much. It dates to the late 70's The other is a Spanish surplus Star Modello Super B in 9mm Largo. It also shoots 9x19mm. It is a sort of 1911 and Browning High Power mash up. It shoots very well. It dates to 1971. This particular weapon was stripped of its original blue and was parkerized by yours truly.
Do you remember the character "Jules" from Pulp Fiction? This is the same model used by him. It was chosen because it looks like a 1911, but the 9mm fired blanks more consistently than the 45. Recite Ezekiel 25:17, empty pistol into target.
Dolomite, nice Acme! They're hard to find in that condition. On earth anyways.

Dolomite, nice Acme! They're hard to find in that condition. On earth anyways. I looked into trying to find one of those, but gave up and bought a nickel plated Rock Island Armory 1911 in .38 Super. I may look again, I like weird stuff like that. My current obsession is finding a Tokarev pistol or a Combloc knockoff version. I've got a bid in on a couple right now, we'll see what happens.

I had one of those Star 9mm Largo. I really loved that gun. It shot true, and that Largo round has some power. When I shot pins there was always someone who questioned my caliber. Unfortunately it was abused and is no longer safe to fire.

Blacksunshine,
Checkout Aim Surplus. They have Romanian Tokarevs. They definitely fall in the weird stuff category. BTW, how do you like the 38 Super?
jmallard, that Para Ordinance is something else!
Chris Greene, your 1911 looks like it just came out of the crate. Sweet!
