I took my lunch break and finished the resistors. Next - capacitors.

That's a good strategy.. start with the lowest height components first.

It’s also how the book is laid out.
This really is a well-designed kit.
I’m taking tomorrow off. I hope to finish this then.

I'm in the middle of one of those as well, got all of the resistors and caps done on saturday, then the power went out on sunday. I've done a wee bit of PCB work in the past but man, this is some tiny stuff. Hope I didn't screw anything up. Being color blind doesn't help; I had to test every part to be sure what's what.

I can see fairly well with my new glasses, but I still test every resistor. It would be a PITA to finish this only to find it doesn’t work.

Here's where it's at this morning. I'm left with the jacks, pots, switches and final assembly.
I have high confidence that this is going to work.

That's why electronics projects are so satisfying.. if you assemble it correctly, it works!

All done... and it sounds great! I swapped in some Pure Tone jacks instead of the stock Switchcraft as the Pure Tones are shorter. I also didn't installed the battery clip. This is external power only.

It looks like the breakout board is upside down, but if it works then it's all good.
Looks like a great kit, too!

I think you’re right. I think I was confused by “this side down.”
Cuz now that side is down. 😂

Finished mine yesterday as well. My soldering ain't quite as pretty as yours but it does work. Made a few mistakes as I went along and had to pull a couple parts and re-do. Great instructions but for the DC jack, which I felt was a bit ambiguous and led to a fail at the first plug-in. Swapped the wires and all was good. It is a nice sounding pedal (though I'm not much of a pedal guy, just wanted a project and to see what all the fuss was about), we'll see if I like it better than my beloved Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic.

I did my guitar gadgets kit, started out great, resistors and caps easy, but didn't end pretty. I didn't realize I should have maybe done the led above the 1k resistor early, no room from the top and even tried from underneath, but decided to leave it out, rather than undo the 1k, so I have a pedal that works great but no led. Also, I didn't get and heatshrink in my kit lol

I hate to say, but I did this really bare bones. Did have a multi-meter and soldering iron, neither great. Couldn't find my wire strippers, so cutting insulation on the side of wire cutters. Learned some lessons and want to try another Will get the right tools and plan ahead. I used to mod guitars, pickups, switches, not well, lol, but this is a good restart for me. Do want to put a video game kill switch on one guitar . Oh, and thanks for the incentive Pinetree

Happy to help.
I have some magnet strips over the bench, so my tools never go anywhere.

I'd like to make one of these; looks like fun. Can anyone recommend something close to a "Janglebox" compressor in a full/complete kit?

That's pretty specific.. most kits are more along the lines of a MXR DynaComp or an Orange Squeezer type of circuit... And from what I've seen, the Janglebox is a modified DynaComp.

This is external power only. Just saw this. Very nice Eric! I assume you have soldered the jacks by now and finished it? How did it turn out for you?
