My GF who never gets a cold or flu, thinks she has allergies with sneezing, coughing, a runny nose, chest congestion, fails to tell me of her condition BEFORE I come over.
I log on to the local pawnshop website and it is GONE.
I go to the TDRI.com website and it's in CHINESE.
I go to Dilbert.com and it's be redesigned so I can't just look at the comics anymore without jumping through hoops...if at all. It seems to be trying to drum up eyeballs for the artist's BLOG. No thank you !
I go to my retirement account, which is mostly invested in Silicone Valley Bank stock....
Ok. That last line is fake. But Geez...stuff keeps changing in weird ways !
Anyone else in the Twilight Zone recently ?

For some reason, when I now "gift" an article from the NY Times to someone, they get the Chinese language version.
Every other day, my Spectrum DVR remote alternates from turning on both the TV and the DVR, to only powering the DVR.
My Thunderbird e-mail starts putting my newest messages at the bottom of the list, and the oldest ones on top.
I set my microwave oven clock to match DST, and an hour later I find that it has switched back on its own.
One day the radios in my den and kitchen are in synch with same station tuned in. The next day, one is a half second behind the other.

My trainee last week. He was an “add-on” along with my assigned trainee.
Hard time learning for this guy. He is 63 and he tends think that makes him good to go. His prior FTO was 30 something and the age difference seemed to be a problem for this guy.
Best example is we use our 6 digit employee number as a part of our signature on everything we sign or key into a computer.
Three weeks in and he still can not recall his employee number.

Not feeling well this morning I decided to take a rona test. Closet full of different tests, most are expired. Found one from Abbott Laboratories and probably screwed it up in 3 different ways. Now I'm not a brilliant man, but I wonder how those who may have less cognitive skills fare with this M.C. Escher kit.

Change just for the sake of change is foolish. The newer P38s are not as good as the original P38, designed in 1948 in 30 days.
Maybe all the good designs are all patented and they can’t design anything better.

Things could be worse: you might've logged into MT2 this morning, only to find that it's now all written in giraffe...

A LOT of things are changing in weird ways, but most we can't talk about in this forum. So I'll settle for it being completely weird that someone would intentionally design a car to turn off the engine when it comes to a momentary stop, and then turn on again when the gas is applied.

They game the system by utilizing this shut off turn on protocol. In the real world it really does nothing other than wear out the starter and battery.

I'm glad my Superduty didn't come with that.

What seems strangest (and most unsettling to me) these days is the apparent fact that so many people amongst the civilian population seem to have zero skills when it comes to non-violent conflict resolution. For them, things escalate from "everything is fine" to "well, now I have to kill you" in a heartbeat.

We're not talking Detroit or Memphis. This is the cosmopolitan Portland where the city turned over large sections of downtown to rioters. Now they're paying the price.

I just picked up my first car that has that feature. Half of the time, it doesn’t function, and I’m not sure why. When it does, and I notice it, I disable it.

Hmmm, April Fools is approaching… I remember when I made us the Gibson Discussion Page for the day. My best one was making “Strat” and “Tele” be filtered and turned into Giraffe. It messed with every post that had those phrases, in full or in part, including people’s usernames (I remember LesGiraffe being quite confused).

Trying right now to get my 2nd Mrna booster after my wife nagged me once again. We’re off to NY in a couple weeks and she’s got all kinds of health issues. So I made my appointment online with CVS which I’ve done before. Appointment was confirmed but the pharmacy is perplexed why it didn’t go through. About to get a googly eye cap and eat an everything bagel for lunch.
Update: Pharmacy redid the appointment and it went through. Shucks. 🤣

Here's a hot tip: I don't think the "old normal" is ever comin' back... It's not, I inquired when they first went up at a local shop when the plexi "breath shields" at the checkout lines would come down. Manager laughed "probably not until the next remodel at least." The remodel came already. They're still up. The manager still laughs about them.

I don’t mind the shields staying in place. Anything to help slow the spread of flus/colds is fine in my book. They are sometimes hard to talk around. I’ve seen people resort to hand signals with the larger ones. 🖖
In general… when does *anything* stay the same over a period of time? Sometimes that span of time is longer for some things. But just about everything changes eventually.
We’ve come through a major historical event. Those tend to facilitate rapid change.
Look at WWII. We entered that era flying biplanes and fledgling single wing aircraft. We exited that 6 year period having maxed out the propellor driven aircraft and entering the jet age. That’s just one example of accelerated change that WWII brought. 😎

Chickensuckers ! Now the change weenies have cancelled my local news on MSN as well as our County Covid-19 tracker. Aargh. And soon, all Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted...despite our governor, two prominent local radio hosts, and my neighbor catching Covid-19 LAST MONTH. And in this land of plenty, I ordered 10 ground turkey packages from our Safeway warehouse conglomerate and...got ZERO of them. I only have a 50-50 chance of getting a complete order from this retail grocery Albertsons/Safeway powerhouse that wants to merge with Kroger. Will a merger increase my chances of a complete order ? Sure. And...my bike, on the first day to reach the 60s in 6 months... had a flat today...of course. And ebay, after grilling me for 40 minutes about what car I was driving and were I lived 20 years ago for their security panic attack last month, now sends me an email every time I log on to ebay(a miracle nowadays for me...I've discovered the hard way !), saying that my computer is STILL not recognized after this issue was fully settled in my 40 minute security "chat". But finally, FINALLY, I got an email today from ebay saying in effect "(sigh)...I see you are pretty insistent on using your dastardly insecure computer and I guess(sigh) that we'll have to accept it(sigh)". [note : this is the same computer I've been using on ebay for FIVE YEARS.] Well, we'll see. Nothing weird at all about this at all. Just another day in paradise !

Great. Even the Forum(or Edge) is messing with me.
I was typing up some fabulous prose and it crashed me out of Moe's and Edge.
I might have to stay in bed...

I called the Honda dealer to ask a couple of questions about the Odyssey. I was told that I would have to order one, and it would take 6 months to get it there. For an Odyssey? They used to have 10 of them sitting on the lot at all times.
The worst change, though, is that a salesman there that became a friend retired 2 weeks ago. I'm happy for him, but now I have to break in a new one.
