Another spin off, what is the loudest band you have seen in concert? For me Chesp Trick. Maybe 1979, Pat Teavers opened. Pat was nothing special. I thought CT was really pretty good, and seriously loud. Holy cow loud.

The Black Crowes. That was years ago at a college in northern IL.
Next would be Lynyrd Skynyrd, when they opened for ZZ Top in Nashville around 2000 or so.

Eddie Rabbit, Early 1980's at Dallas Memorial Auditorium. There were many others that night were fine but when he came on it hurt my ears so bad I had to go outside (still loud outside)to give my ears a break till he got off stage. I have been to ZZ Top at Then Tarrant County Convention Center Theater (smaller but connected to the Convention Center) at the place shook when they suddenly ended a song. It was fantastic so I tell you Loud doesn't necessarily bother me but Eddie Rabbit was off the charts loud.

Slaughter opening for Kiss in 1990. My mom took me and my sister but left us during Slaughter’s set for the”quiet room” they had set up at the old Brendan Byrne Arena. Loved every minute of it of course, but man, were they loud.

Molly Hatchet, in Wichita KS around 1978 or 1979. I wasn’t a big fan, but the guys I was playing with liked them. It was not just the volume, but the distortion. The sound just crackled past my ears in a tremendous roar. You couldn’t tell what song was being played. By the time I got out, I could hardly hear. It took about 3 days to get back any semblance of normal. I made the decision that I would never subject myself to that kind of volume again.

Me and the Missus saw The Darkness back in 2004. The opening act, The Wildhearts, was incredibly, unbelievably loud. My ears are still ringing from that one.

Clapton, Olympia Stadium in Detroit, July 1975. Santana opened up, but as I recall Clapton was really loud.

The loudest for me, by far, has been Kanye West's Saint Pablo tour. It was so loud that everything in me seemed to be vibrating hours after the show. Second to that would be Rammstein. Good show, and great show, respectively, but oh so loud.

Wet Willie (Keep on Smilin") and Grand Funk 1974 at the Spokane World's Fair. To be fair, the venue was anything but acoustically sound.

John Mclaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra at NewPaltz College Gymnasium around 1970. There was no need to be as loud as they were, it was ridiculous and pretty much ruined the experience.
In that same gymnasium around that same period, there was another one, either Procol Harum or Deep Purple, I don't recall which. I went in for about 2 minutes, experienced actual physical pain in my ears, turned around and left.

AC/DC Black Ice tour. Angus' tone was ear splitting treble. Thought it had permanently damaged my hearing.

Aerosmith @ a sold-out show at the Alltel Arena in North Little Rock in 2001 on their Just Push Play tour. Our ears rang for several days after that one. It was a really good concert though! BTW...The Cult opened for Aerosmith and their volume was perfect. Too bad it didn't happen for Aerosmith.

Paul McCartney, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. I think it was 2015; maybe a year earlier. But mainly on "Live and Let Die." The next day my hearing reminded me of my old Vox amp that had "midrange resonance boost," with MRB on. But it recovered and the highs and lows recovered to my hearing eventually.
Last year, Christian singer Danny Gokey appeared at our church. The decibel meter on my iPhone registered 125 decibels at peak. We were sitting halfway to the back in a large sanctuary.
In the middle of it all, Gokey and his band did a knockout version of the Doobies' "Long Train Runnin'." The crowd went wild. They loved it, from the first two bars of the guitar intro that sounded just like the Doobies' record throughout the whole song.

The Clash in a concrete barn of a venue. We were towards the back of the house, so we got the sound a second time as it bounced off the wall behind us.
Ridiculously loud. My ears were roaring after as I walked to my car. I suffered some serious hearing damage that night. Stupid.

The Ramones at the Electric Ballroom around '77 or '78. My ears rang/buzzed for 3 days. I thought the damage would be permanent, I guess it was.

Black Oak Arkansas. University Center Ballroom. U of Montana. 1969 or so. Maybe because it was a small venue compared to most. Jim

I've been to a lot of Black Crowes shows and have to agree that they are loud in some venues. Very loud. But the most consistently loud band I've seen were a club-circuit band in the UK The Hamsters. Fantastic band who put on great shows, I went often when I was living there, they were usually ear splitting. I'm sure I have hearing damage from those gigs. One of my favorite tracks by The Hamsters

Almost verbatim what I wad going to post (except Dubuque, IA). It made my ears respond like a blown speaker.

Mark Knopfler at the Midland theater in KCMO just a few years ago. The sound guy for the show had the bass up waaaay too high and it completely ruined the experience for me. All I could hear was sickeningly loud, boomy bass.
I've listened to the soundboard recording of that show and it sounds fine, so I don't know what the issue was.
