Anyone doing something for their one-and-only this Valentine's Day?
I know it's corny, foisted on us by greeting card companies and sob-wrenching stories on the Hallmark channel, but still....
My wife and I don't buy each other cards. We make our own, elaborate cards in secret, and then exchange them on V Day evening. As in tonight.
Sidebar: remember V Day in elementary school? (At least in my day). We were supposed to give a card to every other student in the class. Even those we didn't like.
Those passed over in the exchange, could console themselves in at least being noticed as a target, during dodgeball on the playground.

When I was in the first grade, I didn't know I was supposed to give them to all my classmates. At first, I addressed the little envelopes to just the girls in the class until my mother told me to give them to the boys, too.
I knew my orientation even then.

Everything I do for my hunny is a Valentine's Day card. We're not into rituals and symbols to remind us how we feel about each other. Birthdays and Christmas are the exception; we're not complete savages We'll go out for dinner at the place of her choosing...which we do at least once a week anyway.

Wifey says, no flowers, no chocolates this year. We're making the evening into a stay-at-home date night. Cooking up a nice dinner together, bottle of wine, snuggling and conversing. No TV or "connected" devices. Looking forward to it.

I bought a girl I was smitten in kindergarten a peppermint candy. Wonder what ever happened to her... Peppermint, that's a pretty bold choice. I would have got my foot in the door with a lemon drop, worked up to butterscotch and saved the peppermint for a hook up at the swings.

Like the rest of y'all, Valentine's day is every day for us. And we eat in a restaurant at least two evenings a week and sometimes more.
We used to have a favorite restaurant where we ate every Thursday, but one time Thursday was Valentine's day. We had to wait a long time for a table in a restaurant where we were seated immediately every other Thursday.

Me and my wife got engaged on Valentine's Day. Therefore, it is a dual celebration. Got her a card, a Teddy Bear and some PlayDoh. She teaches 4 yr old Sunday school and had made comment one day a while back about how much fun she had with the children and the PlayDoh.
She is cooking me her Grandmother's recipe of Hungarian chicken paprikash. Which is not only amazingly delicious but also the first thing she ever cooked for me when we were dating. I was already in love with her but oh man did that seal the deal. Heaven on a plate.

Speaking of Valentines, my son had his wife's wedding ring engraved with the quote from Lisa Simpson's valentine to Ralph Wiggum "I choo choo choose you"

I sent her an email with a picture of our boys when they were little and acting goofy. The Man doesn't control our lives.

A good friend of mine got married on Valentines Day. Of course he is divorced now (cheating wife). Got the Mrs. a humorous card. She is cool with it.

we dont go out to dinner for V day. Its too crowded, food is rushed thru the kitchen and menu is usually limited not to mention pricey (special V Day menu!) Tonight I am broiling sea scallops and baking porkchops stuffed with apple & bread stuffing with side salad Nice bottle of red Dessert is cheesecake (not homemade- sorry) with cherry pie filing on top and a good cuppa joe then catch up on some tv series we watch boring but we like it

Chocolates and jewelry.
We both worked today but spent the three previous days on a quick getaway to Asheville. Spa day, couple live shows, hiking, tapas, seafood etc

I thought Valentines Day was something Hallmark made up to sell more cars every year. I’ve made valentine boxes for my kids when they were little.
i remember making a Nike tennis shoe for my daughter. For my son, one year, I made a rocket ship. The best one, for my son, an army tank that moved on the tracks they have. Wish I had photos.
I get a card for my wife but not a hallmark card.
At Christmas I’ve written a letter to my wife every year we’ve been married.
