I need to add another "singer" to my list with Helen Reddy on it, because I had forgotten the unforgettable Sidsel Endresen ! (how could I have done that ?) Anyway here she is in "concert" before an actual audience with her guitar wielding accomplice. Sidsel live !

Dylan (except for Lay Lady Lay and one other) Most of Janis Joplin
Early 60's Willie Nelson (70's up I like him) Ernest Tubb (yuck!) Parents listened to him when I was growing up Hank Williams Jr.
Most of Sony Bono stuff when he sang solo

Vocal stylists, such as Mariah Carey, who try to get as many different notes as possible into a single syllable. I can't stand when they do this to the national anthem.

The dude from Nickelback (and his ilk--which includes other rockers as well as many so-called 'country' singers). That vocal quality, combined with the ubiquitous Autotune and long-held notes, sounds to me like puking. Ew. Another vote here for Chad from Nickelback. Not a fan of his voice.

Okay, I know this might be the final nail in my Canadian citizenship, but I’m not a fan of Alanis either. So where do you stand regarding Amanda Marshall?

I wouldn't say Joplin is a least favorite for me but I definitely never understood her appeal. I guess it's not her fault she was made to swallow sandpaper as a kid.

Given that she had one of the worst backing bands in Big Brother and the Holding Company, I can see why she had to overpower them. The stuff she recorded on Pearl was much better, and that has always been my favorite material of hers, outside of her rendition of "Summertime"

I don't remember where I saw it, but there was a comment once made that singer/songwriters really can't sing.

Aw man -- you think you know a guy.
Or maybe I'm wrong -- which would suck since I have all of her records.

It's OK. I'll keep you company in the exit line.

Yeah, when I hear it two words come to mind: magnesium citrate.

Well, American Idol has back on last night with its first episode of the season. Take your pick of contestants.
I think the original purpose of American Idol was to watch Simon Cowell put down people who think they are great singers but can't carry a tune in a bucket. That was always entertaining. It could be argued that it was near a level of what went on in the Roman Coliseum.

John Waite- sing or talk but don’t do both at the same time.

Luke Combs comes to mind- husky Chad Kroeger with a twang, but people think it's so "powerful" and "unique". I hate groany vocals.
