Yep, made my 80th blood donation on Monday. I wonder if I've saved any lives.....
My son is almost at 8 gallons. He started about 4 days after his 16th birthday. He wants to set the record for most blood donated.

They stopped taking my blood after I got out of the Navy because of the countries I've visited.

I’m a little over 1 week overdue for my next donation. I’m just in it for the free juice and candy they give out after. 😉

I hate needles.

I had a huge needle phobia up to the point where I developed really bad allergies. They put me on desensitization shots which mean an injection 3 times a week. At first it was quite traumatic, but after a couple weeks it was just not a big deal anymore. Now I don't even give it a thought. My younger daughter (no pics, age 24) still struggles with needles. Getting a vaccination is a HUGE even for her to the point where she'll lose sleep leading up to the appointment. She's even developed psychosomatic illness on the day of an appointment that goes away as soon as it's too late to go to the (canceled) appointment.

Same here. Wish it weren't that way. I love doughnuts.

Just gave a pint today. Got a can of juice, small bag of Fritos, and a salty-sweet peanut bar. 😉

We all go in as a family and donate together. They have a timer on the blood collection scale so we race to see who can squeeze out a pint the fastest. My wife (no pics) is undefeated. My son and I are usually pretty close. Wife only beat me by 8 seconds this last time.
We don't get doughnuts. They have an assortment of snacks and drinks. I usually go for the bakery cookies from the local grocery store and a juice or caffeine free soda.

I get blood drawn every 6 months. Several vials, it is brutal feeling that needle in my arm.

I have no issues having blood drawn. Not a fan of needles, especially by the inexperienced but I deal with it. Being B negative I should give blood more often. Because of high hemoglobin and hematocrit a former doctor suggested I give blood regularly, but then got diagnosed with Melanoma and couldn't for 2 years. My doctor even prescribed "therapeutic phlebotomy", where they draw my blood and toss it. But that cost me money. Then when 2 years had passed I sought out a place to donate and it was not very close, but went anyway. They denied me because I was on antibiotics at the time.
I'm pretty close to buying some leeches, lol.
