Should be fun … or not.
12 hour mandatory work days 4am to 4 pm for us.
Streets all around work closed. No access to our parking garage.
I’m excited … not! 🫤

What is the weather supposed to be? IIRC it gets cold in the desert at night.

Rain in our future. Hopefully gone by race day.
They are doing track practice runs for the next few days.

Cold weather and race tires don't go well together, especially on a track with long straights. Could be a wreck fest.

Night time temps in the mid to low 60s pretty much.
It’s a night time event.

Because the championship has already been decided, there will probably be low US ratings for this. Especially since the race kicks off at 1AM East coast time. Will definitely DVR this instead.

My daughter just returned from there - said the F1 crowd made the strip a bit more crowded than usual.

60's aren't too bad. I thought it would be in the 40's

Right now, high 40s would be the absolute low temps at 6:00am or so.

Well, here we go. Up at 2:10 am for first 12 hour day. 4 to 4.
Looks like I'll be fielding phone calls and setting up VIP escorts.

If I lived in LV, I would be very unhappy about this.

I’ll be very happy to see it behind us, that is for sure.
I find myself in a room monitoring and logging VIP escorts.
Very “not me” type of job.

For me, it's the most exciting thing in sports in years. I love the people who live in LV complaining about an entertainment/tourism issue affecting their lives, lol! Sort of like people in the Florida Keys complaining about fishermen.

Sorry but it's just not the same in the US. There is a vibe, especially in European cities, that can't be replicated in America. That was apparent in Miami.

Sort of like people in the Florida Keys complaining about fishermen. We are grateful for the event, and the economic boost it will provide; it's the reason we don't have a state income tax! However, the issue is how it's been handled - the work over the past eight months in preparation for this event has caused nothing but problems. I have friends who work on the Strip that have had to routinely plan up to three, sometimes four, hours of time just to get to and from work; lengthy road closures having a negative impact on businesses and other major events, etc. Not to mention changing the look of parts of the Strip to accommodate viewing areas, concessions, and other things (yes, they will be removed), just to host a race a few times over the next ten years.

Sort of like people in the Florida Keys complaining about fishermen. No one complains about tourism in Las Vegas. When a single event creates a “need” to cripple the heart of the strip for months, that’s a problem. Frankly, from my vantage point I don’t believe it is going to be the mega event those in power thought it to be. Time will tell. One person in this house is in a position to know exactly how the finances on the “Strip” make out in the end. 😜 Edited to add. Hotel occupancy is almost always in the 90 to 100% range with occasional dips. This week occupancy has been more in the 50 to 70% range. Those are pretty much COVID numbers.

Well, sounds like the drivers in general were not impressed with the creation.
Now six to eight weeks to clear it all out of the way.
