I want to like Harry's, but I feel like the blades clog too much. I have an amish beard this time of year so a generic double blade razor works for me right now. Basically anything but a straight razor or a safety (that legs me unscrew and shake junk out) gets clogged almost instantly for me. And I dull blades like nobody's business, my hair is steel wool.

The handle obsolescence aside, how do you all like the Dollar Shave Club blades? I'm looking at the site and the "Club Series 4" blade looks like it would work. The strip at the top doesn't look like it would be much bigger than my current Mach 3, though some of the others are stupid huge.

I look at it and see..."clogged and worthless in a couple passes" unfortunately. Hair too thick and blade-dulling to work for me.

Safety razors here for about 12 years. Once I discovered them, I wondered where they'd been all my life. I still don't LIKE shaving but it's not hte absolute nightmare and expensive hell it used to be - I'd need to use an entire pack fo blades pretty much every time I shaved because of clogging and dulling, no matter what I tried.

I’ve never tried a safety razor.

I’ve never tried a safety razor. Basically a single blade with two sides, and you swap the blades manually. As a bonus, that means you can partially unscrew the thing, tap out any hair built up, and resume without any clogging etc. It's a lot more efficient, and the blades last a lot longer since you're not dealing with buildup. And the blades are CHEAP compared to the overpriced cartridges. Forget "Dollar Shave Club" - we're talking a hundred blades for ten bucks here.

Well, compared to yours at any rate but I love the safety razors because of the exact reason you stated, you can rinse the clogs away. I won't go into why but I have a lifetime supply of Truefitt and Hill shaving cream and 2 lifetime supplies of various blades. I still like Feather the best.

On the blades, I've been happiest with Astra Platinums, and I have enough for a couple years on hand. I used to keep les, but since most of the good blades end up from Russia...yea.

My beard is far from tough, and I only shave my neck and cheeks any ways. Some day I’ll get around to trying a SR.

I'd try a safety razor, but it feels like more mental energy than I feel like using in the morning before work. Shaving is kinda auto-pilot for me, and that would change that.
Cremo shaving cream for me... bought it at first because I was sick of the cans that oozed all over my counter and made a mess, stuck with it because it worked well, didn't smell awful, amazingly cheap (lasts a looooong time), and for a grown adult, I'm surprisingly acne prone and this stuff is fine for me. Surprisingly, I had problems with the "sensitive skin" one, but the regular one is just fine. I'm weird, I guess.

I use Harry’s . I used them before I grew a beard and they worked great. Now I only shave my neck and they last a really long time . You can buy their blades at Wallyworld and Target , which is convenient . I tried these but for some reason, I kept knicking myself with the trimming blade at the top. I’ve since been told by my dermatologist to use a cartridge with less blades, so I went back to Dollar Shave Club’s 2-blade model.

I've had no issues with DSC - the blades work great. I have no issue with clogging....take a couple swipes, hold under running water briefly....repeat. I shave every other day and one cartridge lasts a month. It would last longer if necessary. In a one second after return to stone age scenario, I could easily make a cartridge last 3 months or more....which would give me a 45 year supply.
I get a nick about 2-3 times a year which I can never explain.
I liked the DSC version with 2 blades, but the handle for the 3 blade version is much nicer.

Mike, I received the handle today. It’s the right one. Thanks again.

I converted to double edge safety razors back when it was a thing in Moe’s. Bought a 100 count pack of Personna blades, and have reordered them a few times over the years.
The boars hair brush was the only expensive component of my shaving kit, and it’s going strong after ten years. I got a nice antique Gillette razor, very nicely made, for a few bucks.
Safety razors are easier on the skin. Those multi blade disposables do shave close, but excavate the outer layer of my face as well. The nice shaving cremes seem to condition my face.
