Well, it certainly does look different, you have to give it that. More than a million people have put down (refundable) deposits to hustle one of them into their driveway. And it certainly is fast: "To emphasize the vehicle’s speed, Musk played a separate film showing the Cybertruck beating a Porsche 911 in a race — while the truck was towing a second Porsche 911." Despite its appearance, it claims to haul at least as much cargo as a Ford 150 pick up. And it will definitely turn heads ... and turn aside (non-armor penetrating) bullets, a handy plus during road rage incidents. Of course, it does come with one automatic cloud of gloom hanging over it: the Musk name, which in itself is a love-it-or-hate-it brand these days. Will it become ubiquitous, or slide into obscurity? The ex-champion of narcissistic muscle, the civilian Hummer, seems to have become a giggled-at synonym for overcompensation. Is that the Cybertruck legacy? i.postimg.cc/hjBC7HDf/cyber.jpg

Those body lines probably help keep production cost down.

I don't want one at all, but it will be interesting to see.
Everyone finding faults with it is using it to criticize Musk, but it is more likely a proof of concept of what can be accomplished with EVs. Tesla was the company that showed that an electric car wasn't just a wussy little RC thing that was barely street legal, but something cool. If this fails, then it likely will bring down a lot of EV futures as well, even though everyone will just want to blame it on Musk.

I actually saw one of those on the road yesterday.
Looks even fuglier in the flesh.

We have a Rivian running around our area. It’s kinda cool in its own way. I say him towing his boat with it, one day.

I think a light electric truck about the size of a gen 1 Tacoma with a 350mi range for $35k could sell quite well.
No interest in the Cybertruck as it just doesn’t seem useful and that’s probably the nicest thing I can say about it..
I’ve only put 55k miles on my Tacoma in 5 years so I guess I’ll see what’s available in 15-20 years when I’m in the market for another truck lol.

Isn’t that a Tesla? I thought the 2024 Delorean was this vehicle.

No Musk bashing from me either because I’ve always liked him. He can build a “BFR” for me any time. As for the EV truck, I have a late model F150 that should be viable for another ten years. I presume gasoline engines will continue for at least that long.

I love myu '21 F-150. 3.5L eco boost has some serious get up n go and the comfort/features are amazing. My son gives me a hard time about my "pavement queen", but it tows our boat nicely and acquitted itself well hauling 4 adults on our route 66 tour in spring '22.
As far as the cyber truck goes....it's hideous, but that's not a show stopper for me. I don't know much about pricing, but I suspect it'd be one of those vehicles where I think "there goes a guy with more money than brains" when I see him driving it. But I tend to be like the typical person described by George Carlin in that respect. He said "Ever notice that anyone going faster than you is a maniac and anyone going slower than you is an idiot?"
Similarly, I have a tendency to assume people who buy a higher level of luxury than me are wasting their money because, of course, I've made the optimal decision. This is particularly true with the luxury brands that are essentially more expensive versions of regular brand cars. Lexus, Lincoln, Cadillac, Acura, etc all of models that are much higher priced versions of their lower end cousins. When I see someone driving an Escalade, it's hard not to think about the fact that they could have bought a Chevy Suburban or GMC Yukon that was nearly identical for far less $$. I think there's more separation now from a features perspective, but back in the '00s, I was looking for a large SUV (bought an Excursion). I looked at the Escalade and it was $20K more than the top end Suburban and it was identical except for some fancy wood trim and more sound insulation. Those brands always strike me as a "buy it to show everyone you can afford it" cars.
