Nowadays, one might say, "he's into mountain biking" or "she jogs" or "they* like to to fish".
Back during the 1950s, such an indivual might simply be described as being "outdoorsy".
You don't hear that adjective much these days.
What other words come to your mind?
* they: "more than one person" (speaking of words that have fallen into disuse or had their meanings morphed)

You don't hear the word "swell" used that much in an Eddie Haskell fashion.

You don't here the word "swell" used that much in an Eddie Haskell fashion. Funny you should mention that, Auf. True story: I was telling some friends a few weeks ago that I'd been reading up on Gwyneth Paltrow while nursing myself through a small cold. As a result, I'd been thinking I should start my own lifestyle brand. It would be called "COOP" (my first name is Cooper) and it would focus on "swellness." The first product would be a "swellness cleanse," which involves finding finding a comfortable, mildly amusing spot and drinking old fashioneds until one decides to stop. I think "swell" is ready for a comeback.

Is "swellness' anything like "swolleness"? No. It's just swell. For example, I'm lobbying the City of New York to rename that neighbourhood around 10th Ave. and the West 40s "Swell's Kitchen."

Groovy love, The Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, The Monkees, etc...... I suspect we have more than a few members that still let a “groovy” slip every once in a while.

Gentlemen! Words like swell creeping into a young man’s conversation… You’re asking for trouble.

I'm forever being accused of talking in code by young folk. I still dig and employ the lexicon of my younger days.
Apparently, they have a bingo cards in meetings for me using 70's slang. I think that's righteous. I wouldn't want to be some uptight jive turkey, I prefer to be outasight. Now, can I hock a few browns off you cats to buy a nail?

You know I didn’t like the word Groovy when in use back in the 1960’s. Just found it and still find it irritating (on the very rare occasion someone uses it today).

"That'd be bomb". I seem to recall that one for a while, well before "dats da bomb". A variant for "cool" and "bomb" I remember, and don't know if it was a regional thing was "t!ts". Silly boys.

One of the many reasons I couldn't watch or stomach Austin Powers. That's one of a number of movies that were really popular that I thought were nothing short of awful. "There's Something About Mary" is another. My wife (no pics) and I rented that after everyone was talking about what hilarious movie it was. After about 10 minutes, we looked at each other and said "It must get better". After about 40 minutes I said "I think I've had enough...you?" and she just grabbed the remote and turned it off. There aren't many movies that are so bad I stop mid-movie and walk away. That was one.
