I guess I’ve never really considered dumping PP. It’s something to think about.
To add to their obstinance, it took them nearly 3 days to “review” and then reject my purchase and return my payment. Woodcraft was never paid. But PP sat on my payment while they reviewed my attempted purchase.

I haven't sold anything on Reverb in years, short of linking an actual bank account I don't know how I'd receive payment. I won't do that. I've used Zelle a number of times for private sales and services. I've thought about parting out a few guitars or selling them on CL, but I just don't have the motivation (or need). I suppose the PayPal philosophy of creating an arbitrary list of legal but verboten goods can be coming to all major theaters but until that time I won't be utilizing them.

I use PayPal whenever I can. In fact, my cash back credit card gives me a little extra percentage if I do use PayPal for those purchases.
In those instances that I intended to use PayPal for a CBD purchase, the seller had a prominent notice posted at the "pay now" check box/link that PayPal cannot be used for the CBD purchase. Having experienced this at a couple of different sites, I wouldn't blame PayPal for not processing a purchase/holding up a refund -- I'd blame the seller and his crappy website maintenance for not notifying me at the time of purchase; the seller knows what's going on.
It seems to me (my guess) that PayPal just wants to avoid being possibly involved in any transactions for items that may not be universally legal in all 50 states and/or for items restricted to persons over 21 years of age. Maybe they'd lose a few sales this way (if someone was so pissed as to not alternatively use a credit card for that purchase) but would avoid a federal entanglement that might just hamper or shut down their entire operation, or get them a big fine, etc. Overly cautious? Well, maybe I should visit the PayPal site and see what they say....
