"the other day I saw a guy jogging down the street naked...I asked him "How come?"...
he said "cause you came home early!"

One of the funniest men to ever walk on stage. He will always be funny.

I love all the nervous, awkward gestures: adjusting the tie knot, mopping the sweat off his face with the handkerchief, rolling his eyes. Many of his jokes had that corny, oldtimey/Vaudeville aura to them, but he made it work. His timing was impeccable, and that means a lot in comedy.
Gotta say also that Carson was a great straight man for him. Johnny had a way of bringing out the best in his guests. He'd set things up and then stand back and let them shine. Many people who've tried to host those late-night talk shows try to make it too much about themselves: he didn't do that when it came to interacting to the guests.
