Anyone else noticed a marked increase in this over the past few months? Quite a range of topics in mine: everything from offers of psychic assistance to warnings about toenail fungus.
Also seems to be a more sophisticated level of "fishing" than in the past. A genuine-looking "notice" that it was time to renew my Costco account almost got me, but it was two months early and when I checked at the membership desk the next time I went to Costco they said, "Costco doesn't ever send membership renewal e-mails: that didn't come from us".
I just basically don't click on any e-mail links anymore. If I want to follow up on something that looks legit, I Google the senders site and navigate to it manually.
Can't count the number of dire warnings that my PayPal account has been "hacked" (not) or the number of unsolicited credit card "offers" ("just click on the convenient link" no thanks).
And then there are the routine ones regarding "reverse mortgages", "supplemental health care insurance", "life insurance", "car repair insurance", "home repair insurance", "gutter guards", and so on.
"Scammer" seems to be an ever-increasingly-popular career path anymore.

Happen to get them all the time. I have address for sender turned on in my outlook so it shows me the entire email address. I love the ones that are for something we actually have but the sender is from 234r09kmc0439m.com or otherwise not the real sender. Never ever click on an attachment. Ever. Unless you know for certain that was someone you know and confirmed you asked for that attachment. Even friends can have their email spoofed or hijacked to provide a platform to send spam.

I think part of it is our demographic: once you get flagged as a geezer, they figure you're ripe for the picking.

Emails, calls, yeah. Tough being popular like thus. What I really enjoy is answering spam phone calls and they ask 'how are you today?' I always say fantastic! Thanks for asking! And hang up.

I learned that if I hold the cursor over the sender I get whole e mail address. If it looks like spam I send it to spam folder so the email program can begin to learn what is spam. I then delete it without opening. Not sure how well it works but when in doubt i delete.

Both my wife and I have recently received alerts from Experian and our bank's credit monitoring that our email addresses have been found on the dark web. A little ambiguous but enough to have us change passwords. No doubt as a result of the many credit breaches that keep occurring. She gets a ton of spam, mine has been increasing. We put a freeze on our credit some time ago but who knows the workarounds these parasitoids have to find their way in.

I give the scam caller a laundry list of my aches and pains so that they learn not to ask a geezer how they're doing.

So far this morning, I've received e-mails offering:
•an unsolicited credit card
•help with my kidneys and testicles
•life insurance
•replacement windows
•suggestions that I re-evaluate (via a convenient link) several items I looked at but did not purchase on eBay
•assistance hooking up with a Russian girlfriend
•remedies for back pain (from which, presumably, I will be suffering after I rut with my new, Russian girlfriend)

Wow! This morning, I've been offered "30 free spins" at the Black Lotus Casino by one sender and then help "getting out of debt" by another!
How timely!

This is a good 'microcosm' of what is the experience of the inner webs email 'game'. But, think about this. If this stuff wasn't successful, it wouldn't be so prevalent and with that in mind, your Karma may be held hostage. Always, 'Watch you six'!

I have noticed an increase lately. I have my own email address with my website and it was all coming through the website contact form. Mostly AI services and "business leads" spam. I installed a honeypot spam filter on the contact form, which is a field hidden from real humans with a real screen but bots see it and fill it in, and that's how you know it's a bot and can block it. I've not had a single spam email since I did that four days ago. Other than that I get nothing. For years and years I've been really careful about not giving out my email address unless it's absolutely necessary and I get virtually no other spam email.

I've started getting a ton of headhunter emails with info on local jobs. I really have no clue what started the flood...I've had no employment changes, no changes to linked in (in over 10 years to be honest), nothing I can think of to indicate I might be looking for a different job (I'm not).
But I get several emails every day with leads on job opportunities. I even got one with a sample cover letter that was eerily accurate about listing my skills and experience. It actually made me sound pretty impressive!

Ooooooh: 40% off for online therapy!
What could possibly go wrong with confessing your innermost secrets to a total stranger via e-mail?

Plus I can get a bargain on silver-infused bed sheets and reduce bloating brought about by the numerous parasites which secretly infest my person!
How did people ever get by without the internet, anyhow?

I see an errant E-mail every now and again. Report ‘em, block ‘em, delete ‘em, and go on my way. Anyone getting hits on your phone? I have had 2 SPAM text as of late. Last Thursday I received a “Potential Spam” call that I dismissed from a normal looking 10 digit number. Not new, but I immediately got a text from the same number saying “Please text me.” This was a first for me. Yesterday I received a text from a 5 digit number notifying me that “my Ticket # B003 is being served at Window number 07 at the DMV.” I was last in a DMV in 2019.

I probably miss some real emails because I am bad about just ignoring all the emails that come in. The best way to reach me is by text. It helps if the number you are texting from is in my contacts list.
I do check my email each morning. My electricity bill comes by email. I wouldn't want to have my lights turned off. My electricity provider is on two-factor authentication.

I get 5 to 15 junk mails a day, but Hotmail filters most all of them out into junk folder.
I just report all as pishing and block/delete them, they never come back.
