I don't post a lot these days because I figure what I post is of little interest to the members here.

I've mostly seen the Civil War stuff, which was really good. I should check the one on Brooklyn Bridge, since I did walk across it once: will never forget all the padlocks.
Thanks for the tip, Roly: I didn't even know he'd made that one. I read up on the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge awhile back. That was a real technological challenge in the 1930s, what with the tides that race through that narrow opening and all.

I have watched most if not all of his documentaries and enjoyed every one. Sometimes there are some semi-obvious political views in his stuff but I can overlook it because the historical content is done so well. He knows how to keep it interesting.

A bit of a tangent, but a favorite episode of Community is when the parodied a Ken Burns documentary. There is a campus pillow vs. blanket fight, and it is told historically, with a narrator, and fiddle music with voice overs reading text messages. It ends with a pledge drive, too.

I've found KB's documentaries engaging, but IMO he often attempts too hard to distance himself from romanticizing the subject. The way he juxtaposes adjacent history often becomes more "commentary" than documentary.

I watched Civil War for free on PBS and really liked it. I would like to watch Country Music, but can’t find any place to watch it without paying for it.

I required my young son to watch the Civil War series when he was studying it in Jr. High school. Seemed a reasonable counter viewpoint from what is tought now.
