After several years off, we noticed a big hole next to our shed. Right down below the steel sheeting we installed last time to prevent them from getting under.
This afternoon I looked out and he was just handing out on the grass by the hole. Saw me and took off.
Went to my parents, got the humane trap, loaded it with a quarter of a cantaloupe and waited. Had him within an hour and have sent him on his way.
I’ve now reloaded the trap to see if he had any friends.
Once I feel like I’ve gotten what there is to get, I’ll fill the hole with some gravel and then cover with topsoil.

"Sent him away" like in the Sopranos? 😀
I had a similar situation but instead of gravel I filled the hole with concrete mix, hosed it down then covered with dirt.

I don’t hav the heart to dispatch them, so I put the trap in the car and relocated him to a park over 3 miles away (supposedly that’s “far enough” that he won’t make his way back). The concrete idea is pretty good, maybe a small bag of that will make more sense than the gravel. I may just do that, thanks!
