Before my time (1959?), but this is just nasty! I envision a standup bass, small drum kit and big old honking Gretsch declaring war on all things clean with an overdose of nasty. And, about the time the cleanliness of the joint believes they can’t be doused in anymore nasty, this 7’ sax backs up and dumps a truckload of more nasty!
Listen, it’s my vision. I can see what I want. Lol

Easily one of the catchiest TV themes of all time.

Easily one of the catchiest TV themes of all time. Definitely, but I’d never heard this particular mix. Most of the ones I’ve heard are cleaner, more polished (studio) versions. This one is like the producer opened up a Boss DS-1 and emptied the contents onto the tape, and then wallowed it in a mud hole.

Here’s another, more pop, version that’s really cool. Btw, Art of Noise won a Grammy for this cover.

Gary Hoey even gave it a go.
I guess that would be a Hoey Goey

I’m going to go out on a limb and speculate Mr. Hoey did not receive a Grammy for that.

He never does. But it doesn't diminish his prowess.

Last Friday (26th) was Duane Eddy's 86th birthday. And then there was the music in Peter Gunn. Lola Albright (Edie Hart) could sing OK.

I'm sure he is quite accomplished. That particular arrangement just wasn't my cup of tea.

The Hellecasters have a version also, but there are too many notes in it (Amadeus anyone?)
Hell, who hasn't done a version of that tune?

RE: The OP, that was the heavy metal of its day. Yeah, I told Mrs. L that last night. I said imagine being a teenager, going to a sock hop, being drowned in doo wop, and then all of a sudden this starting up. I bet it made the teachers and administrators’ hair stand on end in horror. Lol

Was this in tribute to DE or just a coincidence that he just passed away?
Wait, this is not been verified. I did read a RIP elsewhere. Dang internet.

He passed away, unbeknownst to me until now, yesterday(the 30th). Besides, I don’t start, nor participate in, RIP threads. Just not my thing.

If someone starts one, that’s their own affair. Fitz did a poll one time on the topic asking if they should have their own subtopic, area, or whatever. As I recall the general consensus was to keep things status quo. Thought being folks not interested could keep scrolling. Personally, I think that was the right answer.

We get so little traffic here I don't mind RIP threads, especially when they're someone of relevance to music.

We get so little traffic here I don't mind RIP threads, especially when they're someone of relevance to music. Apparently, they annoy some as I think that’s what prompted mfitz’s poll a year or so ago. They don’t bother me. I just don’t see any point to them. Thus, I’m a “scroll on by” type.

Easily one of the catchiest TV themes of all time. Wow, I never knew it was a theme tune to a tv show! I wonder if it got broadcast over here? I can't think of Peter Gunn without also thinking of Link Wray's Rumble
