My student brought his Squier today. As I suspected, it’s light years better than that awful Kramer he brought the first time. That said, I was surprised to by the configuration, all single coils with a Floyd like locking trem. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that. Makes me wonder if someone added it.
Did Squier ever putting a locking trem on a Strat with all single coils?

I guess he’s going to learn how to restring and tune those. He broke the high E trying to tune it today before showing up for his lesson. My guess is he tried to tune it without loosening the nut lock since it broke between the nut and tuner. Now, I have it, & $50, to check it out and put a new “string” on it. 🤷♂️

If it REALLY is a "System 1" Fender-branded tremolo, I had one ages ago. The biggest issue with these is that over time the bridge metal that holds the fine tuners breaks down and the tuners lose their 'grip' and can fall out. It worked okay for me for a while, but I sold it.
