Hey e'budy. I recently repaired (received in pieces) a no name resonator guitar with a spider bridge and a split wooden saddle. I put in a plastic split saddle which worked quite well. and I liked the brightness. However the owner didn't and thinks the wooden will be a little more subtle. would changing saddles make a marked difference?

Absolutely. Bone and Tusq are brighter sounding. Ebony, maple, and rosewood soften the tone a bit.
