Have seen a few on craig's xxxx list. interesting but ? What's the deterrent ,CIJ or crazed electronics ? Seems a little techy with over complicated electronics. I already have a nice jazz?
Got a MiJ Jaguar bass ...but it's black, so sorry I cant help you
Jazz bass sized neck, jazz style pups
It is well made, feels good, sounds good.
I only use it in passive mode, in series.
It does have the active boost circuit,(the top control plate), the boost circuit board can cause noise and may need shielding, copper tape works well. There are a couple of good youtube videos on how to do it
I like mine, no one who has played it has said a bad word about it.
i've got an mij red w matching headstock. pretty great and versatile. the active preamp is kinda noisy (not the buzzing that some folks report, just a hiss when the treble's up), but you don't hear it when you're actually playing. i generally play passive. my son's bassist plays an ibanez artcore and a custom fretless, and after playing my jag at practice, he asked if he could play it at their next show. everyone seems to like it.

it sounds great. the switches take about a minute to get used to. on off for each pickup, then a series/parallel switch for when they're both on (roughly: parallel for jb sounds, series for pb sounds). on the upper horn, there's the active/passive switch. when on, you can adjust treble and bass with the wheels. volume and tone work in both active and passive modes on these (not the case on the american ones, as i recall).
all of the sounds are useful.
on a whim, i put flats on it (first time i've used them since i was 15), and i like it even more.

On the American Jaguar bass the Volume works in Active mode , the lower tone control doesnt as the tone is controlled by the upper plate controls
Yup. On the MIJ, you basically have three tone controls in active mode -- bass boost, treble boost (upper plate), and master tone (lower plate). On the MIA, you only have the upper plate controls in active. Are they treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut? Is there a center detent for those?

On the MiA the upper controls are boost/cut
No, there isn't a centre detent.
