There's no need to rip it up on a solo to be too cool for school. Get the 'feel' right and it hits just as hard as playing spread triads at Eric Johnson speed. These guys are all monster players and they're killin' it in a clinic jam session. Fun stuff!

Pull out just about any Grant Green record and you'll hear it. Done well it generates quite a bit of tension (that's a good thing)

Oh yeah. Some rock guitarists are really good at it too. Johnny Ramone and the guy that plays for Joan Jett epitomize the technique in rock.
