So, I have got the baritone guiar out of its case, it happens every year or so, and started mucking around with it,
I have never really found a use for it that see would see it played more regularly.
However, what I have found is that the 28" scale length makes playing all those fancy jazz chords easier, no more trying to squash pudgy fingers into frets high up on the neck.
I have been working through Mickey Baker's Jazz guitar book, the start of which is learning chord substitution up and down the neck and the 28" scale has made it much easier.
I was thinking about getting an archtop to use as a jazz guitar, but for the moment the baritone will serve for this purpose.
However, it is tuned D-D, down a tone from standard.
Should I change string gauge to get it back to E-E tuning, or just adapt to the D-D ?.

A full step down doesn't seem very "baritony" to me. I think once you get south of D(or is it north for youse down under?), like C/B/A then you're in bari range.

4th or 5th below standard guitar tuning is 'standard' for baritone.
