The laptop I have Pro Tools on has multiple 3.0 and 2.0 USB connections. Since the only 3.0 device I have hanging off of it is my Glyph external drive I connect my audio interface, ilok and wireless mouse to 2 USB 2.0, using a cheap Amazon usb splitter. Suddenly my Avid Eleven Rack will only cooperate connected to the splitter. If I plug it directly to either USB port my playback sounds like its under water. Could it be my laptop somehow doesn't choose the correct driver for the Eleven Rack unless it is routed through this splitter??
Weird.

Is the USB a powered hub? I'm guessing it's automatically selecting the USB address (source) where all signals are coming in.

There is no external power to the device, if thats what you mean. I made matters worse by downloading the latest driver for the Eleven Rack. Suddenly when loading Pro Tools "Magix Low Latency 2016" pops up. All my inputs are greyed out and no audible playback. If I play a wav file through Sound Forge (Magix) all audio plays back fine. When I click on the Pro Tools audio engine only the Magix appears. Uninstalled>rebooted>reinstalled old driver. Same same, no audible playback in Pro Tools but now I have a drop down choice in playback engine between Magix and Eleven Rack. Choose Eleven Rack and all is functional as before.
Good lord, parasitic sumbyatches. 🥴

When that kind of stuff happens it really annoys me. They say to always use the latest drivers. Bull! If everything is working how it's supposed to then I don't mess with it.

Something with the new Eleven Rack driver allowed this Magix thing to piggypack in from my already installed Magix products. In the process of taking my Win7 laptop back on line for the driver download suddenly MS Edge is appearing and wanting me to take a tutorial. Gahhhh.
