That's done pretty tastefully. I love the 15 series.

definitely tastefully reclified but for the $1799 list I'll take an OM-28 and love every nick and scratch the extra grand provides... ;-)

I’ve seen the d15 version in person and it’s really well done. It looks like the reliced versions are only 100 dollars more .

Make sure that Martin gets sent to the nit nurse

I like that style. When I saw "reliced" I was expecting someone to try to pass it off as vintage, but that isn't the case. They're just doing some stuff you see more in the furniture world. To me that is less "my guitar looks like its been played a lot, ain't that cool?" and more just showing off different ways to make wood look pretty.

Make sure that Martin gets sent to the nit nurse LOL!!! Yeah, I can be "nit"-picky about spelling myself, especially if it's relic'd or relicked. Ok, it has to be "relic'd." Reliced: A recurrence of lice. Relicked: Licked again.

Make sure that Martin gets sent to the nit nurse I knew when I put that in it didn't look right. Too tired and lazy to figure out why.

Oh, everybody on this forum (with the exception of pdf64 and myself) spells it "reliced."

To be fair, "relic" as a verb is a made up word only a couple decades old and only used in very narrow circles. I don't foresee any of the major dictionaries weighing in any time soon.

I’ve seen that, got a similar finish with a propane torch.

Excuse me but, your baby is ugly.
Silly affectation, not remotely authentic, on par with Eastman's attempts. Martin and Eastman relic efforts both look like Jr High woodworking projects gone bad.

I played a couple from that series the last time I was at Elderly. Wasn't impress with either the look or the sound.

But, are they going for authentic? I agree, that doesn't fool me for a second. But honestly, neither do the offerings from Fender or Gibson 99% of the time. It strikes me as just something different to try.

It strikes me as just something different to try. I don’t think they are really going for that authentic look tbh. On the other hand it’s not a 6k Martin “Authentic” either. I like it at that price point .

I have a DSS 15M StreetMaster. Love it - it has a big, open tone with great bass. Very light build. When they first came out, I wasn't a fan of the fake aging/relic'ing, but the large sloped body won me over, so I ordered one sight unseen/unplayed. Good move.
I was just in a GC the other day that had a 000-15 StreetMaster and a standard 000-15. The StreetMaster was the clear winner between those two as well - if it had been a lefty, I would have been very tempted to take it home.

If it was a spruce top variation I'd be saying the same. I don't mind the mahogany top ones, I just never find they're the sort that I don't want to put down. This thread is showing I'm definitely in the minority for liking the looks... even if it has a Target flatpack sort of look to it!

Like I said (and as I repeat myself), I was put off by the looks at first as well - just couldn't take them seriously. But the tone made me overcome that bias pretty quickly.
And the option of a slope shoulder dread (which is actually 16" wide across the lower bout, a tad wider than the standard 15 5/8" dread) made me get out my wallet.

I think the Cordoba Luthier C10 or a vintage Martin N-20 is about as close as you can get.
I’ve had my eyes on the C10 Cedar top, I’ve got to play one first. Used would be good.
