I never had that happen... 30+ yrs of guitar. 3rd of that hard gigging ...
Became lifeless... lackluster .... sure But never microphonic... went to practice with amp, notice a weird ghost rattle and a hum with certain low base notes. Never having a power tube go microphonic I thought the speaker developed a coil rub...
Process of elimination ... yep power tubes.
Anyone have a power tube go microphonic?

Yes, I've had it happen in my Princeton Reverb; it was a Groove Tube 6V6. I replaced 'em with JJs and it's been trouble free for more than 10 years.

I bought a couple of new GE 6L6 tubes in the early 80's thinking that I could stick them in my 1965 Deluxe Reverb and turn it into a much louder amp. I never got around to doing that, but years later tried them for the first time in an amp that was designed for them. They were microphonic right from the start. Pretty disappointing.

I’ve got a pair of Peavey branded classic Sylvania STR387 6L6GC, the greatest, toughest 6L6GC ever made, that I bought from a music shop back in the late 80s. Used them in my Fender 75 combo. After a few months use, they became microphonic, to the point that they could actually generate a feedback howl all on their own. They’re still excellent valves, very strong output better than any current production I’ve tried, but strictly for use in a head, not a combo.

Grove Tubes 6V6GC..sounded fine till they went bad. 80% of what I use is JJs (ordered from Euro Tubes). I’ve has good results with JJs and for Fender amps usually my go to tube company ) Although I do use a few Tube Doctors & the new production Mullards . JJ preamp tubes as far as going microphonic ... only one in the last 10 yrs ... and I think it was a 12ax7 in the reverb driver.

Yep a couple of times but always either right out of the box or shortly after installation.
I did not like the result of JJ 6V6's in my PRII. I've had good luck with their EL84's but their 6V6's just didn't sound like a 6V6 to me. I retubed the amp with Tung Sol RI's and all is well.

Interesting ... I was’t getting the JJ Gz34... it was ok ... to solid state in feel and in tone for my tastes. I like the Sovtek rectifier sound, just not the inconsistency in quality. Ended up with a tung-sol 5AR4. Very nice. I only have 6v6s in a Weber 5E3 x 2. & those. 6v6s are JJs. Other than that I’m primarily a 6L6GC guy. Liking the tung sol rectifier, maybe I’ll try some T-Sol 6V6s. Tung Sol 12ax7, solid preamp tube... Imo lots of gain and they sit high in the treble department. I can totally see “the why” people like them in high gain amps. I just can’t get them to work in my Fenders. On El-84s: try the Mesa Boogies when you get a chance. Whoever MB gets those from are doing a serious job. Stuck & in a bind.. i bought some off the shelf at my local Music Store... i.e. cause that all they had. Dropped them in my “ A Typical BillM “ Modded Blues Jr... super quite, sound great.

As they’re very different things. Mike Matthews has really screwed things up on that front, but I suppose the concept is endemic in the music industry, where branding is everything.

I have a matched up pair of late '60s RCA 6V6GTAs in my '66 BFDR, one has decided to go microphonic. I have another that matches up with the quiet one so I'll swap the noisy one out and curse my luck.
