So I pulled the trigger. I was hoping we might get a break in our store closures long enough to compare an E6 and an E8 in person (plus anything else that might have been available in my budget range) at the 12th Fret here in Toronto. (Excellent shop for those who haven't heard of it). But that's not happening anytime soon. And since the guitar pipeline for retail is in shambles, I decided to take a flier. Spoke to the guys at the shop and did a curb-side transaction.
Haven't had much time to play the new guitar, but so far so good, as expected. The main issue is with the player. I haven't had an acoustic in the house for a while. My strength and technique are shot. But that's a temporary problem. I can tell by playing slowly and deliberately that there are a lot of great tones in this guitar. I'd put it up there with my old Larrivee, but there's less fight in it. That's a good thing. I'm looking forward to spending more time with this guitar in the weeks ahead. Chalk up another win for Eastman's well-earned price-to-quality ratio.

Congrats, great choice!
Eastman makes a fine guitar.

They sure do, RagT. I seem to be swapping out my little collection with Eastman models. I have a T58/v on order (a Gretsch-style hollowbody with Filtertons) that's replacing an ES-135. I loved the 135 for the fit and feel, but I never warmed up to the P100 pickups and the frets were kind of sprout-y. I was thinking about replacing the pups, but then I saw the T58 and tumbled. aaronsearle.com/2020/03/26/gear-review-eastman-t58-v-amb/

I'm thinking about an E20SS myself, to go with my E20P (a terrific little rosewood parlor).
It's a slope-shouldered J-45 knock-off. I hear nothing but good things.

That's a nice looking/sounding option, RagT.

Congrats! I've been enjoying an Eastman jazz box, AR403CE - just very well built with good woods and nice tones and playability. I'm tempted to try another, like that J-45 copy!

You're thread on the jazz box led me to order an Eastman T58/v. (See the link above.) It's been a big guitar buying (and selling) year for me, but when the T58 arrives, that will be the end of it... for now.

I don’t have an Eastman. 🤔

Lovely instruments!
Did the shop set it up for you, or at least confirm that the set up is decent? Eastman is much better than the other MIC solid guitar competitors (Blueridge for example) for factory setups, but it still might have ended up too high. I mention it because you said it is hard on your fingers, and some of that could be that you're used to electric, but it might not be.

@funky... The factory setup is good. I may take the guitar back to the shop to personalize after I spend a bit more time with it and can tell them what I'm looking for. The 12th Fret is a serious store and was very clear on that point as I wasn't able to play the instrument ahead of buying it. That won't be for a couple of weeks, though. I'm on hard deadlines with work and we're in lockdown, with variants-of-concern doing very at their job. *sigh*

Brief update: My finger strength and acoustic technique have been coming back, and the E6-OM is performing admirably. Great sounding instrument and terrific value at a modest price for guitars in its range.
