I am going to take the amplifiers out of my AC15H1TV and Twin Reverb so I can separate the speaker cabinets in order to put them in another room when recording. The AC15 isn't a big deal but I just realized I will need to put the reverb tank from the Twin in the head cab as well. Do I need to build the head cabinet large enough to keep the tank far enough away from the tubes to keep the heat away from it? I'm thinking something about the size of an old Dual Showman head but smaller would be desirable.
As far as I'm concerned I could just disconnect and leave the tank in the speaker cab because I never use it. I'm not into the surfy drippy sounding spring reverb. Don't like guitar amp spring reverbs. I have other and better options for reverb if I need it.
What would I need to do to disable the reverb circuit in the amp? Just remove the tube or is there more to it than that? Would it damage something if disabled?

You can simply unplug the reverb tank's send/return cables and everything will work fine; no risk of damage.
There's no need to be concerned about heat from the tubes affecting the reverb pan so long as the cabinet has ventilation (like all amp cabs have).

With the tank removed, to avoid the reverb transformer driving into an open circuit, it would be a good idea to remove the valve in V3 as well. If nothing else, it’s the hardest working 9 pin valve in the amp.
Regarding a head cab with reverb tank, it’s the PT’s magnetic field (and its closer proximity to the tank’s pick up coil) that’s the problem, rather than heat. ie hum might be induced into the ‘wet’ signal. But my 75 head isn’t particularly oversized, not like the old Showman Reverb heads. However, if you wanted to play it safe a Showman Reverb head sized cab should fit the bill. You may be able to buy a ready made one. When fitting the tank, just make sure that the red connector ‘drive’ side is under the PT.

I just checked my 75’s head cab, the internal ’floor to ceiling’ height is 9”, external/ outer height is 10 3/4” plus a bit for the feet.

I made a cab for a Deluxe Reverb with an internal height of 8" and never suffered any ill effects (noise, I think, is the main thing people talk about).
