Holy smokes!
I halved my vintage amp collection last year but I'm glad I held onto my 1965 DR.

A Hot Rod Deluxe is now $1000. I can see paying that IF they built them better like the Reissue series, with tube sockets mounted on the chassis instead of the PCB. Fender knows this is a problem but they refuse to fix it. I've owned 4 Blues Juniors, and 3 out of the 4 had to be repaired under warranty because having the tube sockets mounted on the PCB caused bad solder joints. I wouldn't be surprised if lots of warranty repairs for this particular issue was cutting into Fender's profits, so they lowered the warranty from 5 years down to 2 years. If they really cared about their customers they'd fix the issue, then I could accept a price increase. As it stands, I will never buy another new Fender amp. On a related note, the prices of some Fender MIM guitars are approaching $1000... am I the only one who thinks this is crazy?

The MIMs are a far better value than the MIAs at this point.
It's what got me buying Gibsons.
To get a basic, proper Jaguar that didn't have Nike store-man's improvements that was MIA, the cheapest in '16 was the Johnny Marr signature, I kid you not.
For that price (new to new), I got very nice LP studios with flight case, the fancy paint (not satin, actual color choices), and factory Plek job with my preferred 490/498 pickups.
I haven't looked back.
My "Classic Player" Jaguar HH (which is a fine, fine guitar that is intonated well enough to work with the guitar synth pickup, and the HH variant of the time had the trem moved up JUST enough to fit the GK-3 on the strap post which you can't do on a regular Jaguar....plays as well as the Americans. It looks nice. It just doesn't have nitro.
I've lived, somehow.
It was a steal at $699 when I got it!

At that price, buying the kits online looks awfully tempting.

I see the drri is 1500 now. I paid 900 for a “demo “ one from Sweetwater back in 15. I was able to snag a 70th anny broadcaster before the price increase as well as a 50s LP Standardfor 2399 including tax.
