If there's no fires to put out, I usually read the newspaper. I'll briefly chat with regulars but, "got to do this or that" is an easy way to keep things brief. Am I normal?

It's been a while but usually chat with invited guests, or consort with bandmates on set lists, etc.

Quit gigging 10 years ago, but I would usually go and chat with our regular following.

Pee (if needed), grab a drink/water, change shirts, maybe step outside if it's cooler out than inside, then just sit and recharge (or chat with friends). Tune right before I go on again.

Step outside to get away from the cigarette smoke. Gracefully accept compliments from the audience. Tell the wannabe bassist no.

Playing with the bass players setting on his amp was always good fun.

For my once-a-year substitute gigs, life is simple. After I come out of the mens room, the rest of the band is socializing with folk I don't know. So I go outside where its cooler, and the QUIETNESS brings me down a notch.
I really wasn't made for the rock bar band life..

My playing these days has been mostly classical music for wedding ceremony/Chickentail hour gigs....usually very little break time.
I have been doing once-a-month club gigs with a horn band as of late. On those gigs
I usually keep to myself during the breaks.....the Covid thing is still lurking about....

I don't foresee gigging again, I just lost the itch as I found how to make the studio really, really, really work for me.
I'll have folks over to play, but audience? Don't need or want, I NEVER did it for them anyay.
I was appreciative of the fans, but they knew it was a personal muse I chased - and they were just along for the ride.
Usually during breaks it'd be restroom if needed, clean the Space Echo heads, and check battery levels on the things that still used batteries.

That question took me back to the 1970s/'80s on the "social club" circuit in northern England. You could earn a living from it in those days, but one of the drawbacks was they all had a lengthy Bingo session between the band's sets. However big the club, the Bingo was piped into every room and it was loud and clear in the dressing rooms. We'd do anything to avoid it. Nearby pubs would often greet us with "you'll be the band from next door?" We might even sit in the van.

I try to say hello to any friends, family, or "regular" followers that have shown up to see us for just a minute or two, maybe hit the men's room if needed and grab a couple cold drinks to last me through the next set. I'm usually drinking seltzer or club soda while we're playing, I don't generally have a beer until after we're done playing for the night. I'll also take a look at the next set and see if we need to make any last minute changes and tweak the PA if it needs anything.
