I recently purchased this lightweight Swamp Ash body from USA Guitars. It weighs in at 3.5 lbs. It is one of the most porous pieces of SA I've worked with, but I still didn't grain fill. There's just too much going on with this wood to hide it or make it heavier in any way.
I bought the body, then the PG... then moved on to my dyes. This is where I'm at now - one coat of shellac and one of clear glass lacquer applied.

Wow, that is pretty cool. Nifty pickguard too. Black hardware and ebony board?😊

I haven’t ordered the neck yet. That is a contender.
Black hardware is definitely a contender, but lefty hardware is scarce these days.

Thanks Sharkie!
I just ordered a maple neck. That's a blank slate for what comes next.

Say, what kind of fret board is that? Nice color and quite a PG. It's like a new direction in Pickguards. The body looks like it's on fire!

Thanks!
Today was a *perfect* day to shoot lacquer. I got 4 coats of clear on it.
I’m falling in love with this guitar. I hate it when that happens.

Thanks!
I went into this with no particular direction other than the black edges. I made up the rest along the way.
I started with red - front and back of the body- out to @1” from the edges. I sanded the red back, leaving it in the more porous areas. Then I went to a golden brown over the front and back. I then did the edges. I went back to the front and back surfaces and applied some vintage amber to some of the areas where the golden brown was lighter. Just a little to give extra dimension without going over the top. I love the way this has turned out.

Some ruby domed knobs would look cool. Or a shell casing to plug that first hole.
You say you got the body from USA Guitars? Did you mean USACG??

USA Made Guitars on Reverb. I really like his bodies and they are less expensive than Warmoth.

Thanks, yeah I've been checking out their stuff. I do not need an Esquire, I do not need an Esquire....

I finished the clear today. Here are a couple shots of it outside.
I've changed my mind on the PG. I'm going to go with a gloss black/red/black from Warmoth. The original PG would make it too hard to sell... I think.
I'll use it on the next guitar body clock, though.
