While I might appreciate a NEW button on anything less than 24 hours old, as an example, the "Performer's Corner" has a thread that was last updated Jan. 23rd and still says "NEW". And yes, I know as soon as I open any thread the "NEW" button goes away, but overall, it makes my head hurt...

If you click on the “New” button it will take you to the new post. So there’s that.

It’s new to you since you haven’t read it.
At the top, there’s a pull down where you can mark a board as “read”, so all the “new” icons disappear.
Clear the deck every once in a while and you’ll be all set. I
I find use of those buttons to skip to the first unread post is the most functional feature of this site.

Wish I had a "new" button: I give myself 16-year-old body all over again.
Then all I'd need is an "instill vast wisdom I should've gained in 7 decades but didn't" button and I'd be all set...

Ok. At one point, I could mark a thread as read forever, and now I can't seem to be able to do that.
