Went to a local watering hole here in the 'burbs about 15 minutes from my house, and caught an outdoor show at a pub. The rockfish tacos were excellent. The band consisted of
-Pete Ragusa, drums (The Nighthawks, Tom Principato, Catfish Hodge, Patty Reese) -Bruce Swaim, sax (Danny Gatton, Junior Cline and The Recliners, Bill Holland, Brooks Tegler) -John Previti, bass (Danny Gatton, Les Paul, Charlie Byrd, Herb Ellis, Joe Walsh, Emmylou Harris) -Tommy Lepson, keys (Root Boy Slim, Danny Gatton, Duke Robillard, Jimmy Thackery and The Assassins, Kim Wilson, Bonnie Bramlett) -Dave Chappell, guitar (Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Johnson, Danny Gatton, Percy Sledge, Rhodes Tavern Troubadours, Hula Monsters)
^^^Those artists and bands are a very short list.
They covered a whole lot of ground in two and a half hours, from Marvin Gaye's Ain't That Peculiar, to The Allman Bros One Way Out, to Bobby Gentry's Ode to Billy Joe, to instrumentals like Santo and Johnny's Sleepwalk, along with several Gatton and Dylan tunes, and a whole lot more. Tommy did most of the vocals and let me tellya, for someone in his 70s he sings better than most R&B folks in their 30s. What a voice. MAN can he hit some notes. The Allman Bros should've gotten him when Greg passed.
And it was a no-charge event at a dinky Irish pub. There was perhaps 25 people in the crowd, and most everyone was up and dancing.
HOLY SMOKES what a show. It sure is good to get out and catch some great live music again.

What a lineup! It sounds like you saw a powerhouse show and yes! it’s great that live music is back. 👍

Daaang ! That should have been recorded ! And those guys should have made some decent cash. That's a lot of long hours of practice and talent unrewarded...and they deserve far far better ! But it sounds like they had fun. What a night !

But it sounds like they had fun. What a night ! These are the kind of players that don't practice. They didn't have a list; a player called a tune and the key, and off they went. But you're right...I should've recorded it!

Wait, was that the name of the band or what you ate?

No opportunities like that up here, I'm jealous.
Once, in Amsterdam, show was done, I walked across the street and bought a ticket for a Jack Bruce show. That's as close as I can come.

About 15 years ago, on one of his small venue tours to prepare a new band that never came to anything, my local heavy rock pub The Rigger managed to book Michael Schenker. I didn’t hear about it till that evening, but went down (just a mile and a half walk from my house!) and managed to get in. Him and his band were absolutely amazing, played loads of the old UFO classics that I’d loved for 30 years. Seeing a true rock legend pulling out all the stops in an 80 person venue was so good it barely seemed real, definitely something I’ll never forget.

My old guitar tech and close friend Billy O'Reilly was Schenker's guitar tech for many years from the UFO days until well into the 90's.
