First off, I could always just take Queenie out to a nice place for dinner. We did that a couple of weeks ago for her birthday, so that idea has somewhat been covered.
The deal is this. My employer gave everyone a $200.00 gift card which sadly has restrictions regarding where it can be used.
Guitar Center is on the list of places to use it.
The one thing I could use that would not be “duplicate” in any way would be a set of decent headphones. These would be specifically for use with my music room computer.
I’ve not tried much recording, but I do have the focusrite 18i8 interface.
What specific recommendations might you have for my application and at a price point between two hundred and maybe up to three hundred dollar range?

Hey Larry, how are you on mics? Sennheiser 906e is a really good amp mic, right in your price range. Headphones? Also a variety of Sennheisers.
Happy spending!

I have an AKG P420 and three Sennheiser E835s. Certainly not high-end stuff, but it's all new.

The E906 is the only dynamic (not condenser or ribbon) I like on guitar amps.
And the "doesn't need a stand" rocks.

If you need a decent large diaphragm condenser microphone you can find a used Roswell Mini K47 in the $250-ish price range. They provide a good bang for the buck. I have a pair of them and was quite surprised how good they sound for the price.
I have a couple sets of Sony MDR 7506 closed back headphones I use in the studio. They are not good to use as a mixing reference because they are very top and bottom heavy but they sound good to me for monitoring while tracking. They are about $100 - $125 depending upon where you get them from. One of the things I like about them for studio knock-arounds is that replacement parts are readily available to repair them if anything breaks, and I mean ANYTHING.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I gave the card to Queenie. There seem to be more places that are up her alley to spend it at.

Just to follow up.
The $200.00 finally was spent on 2 new dresses (neither of which fit me) and a new bed spread.
Queenie went to JC Penny and applied some sale coupons that came in the mail.
I think she has about $15.00 remaining. 😜
All worked out well. 👍🏻

The E906 is the only dynamic (not condenser or ribbon) I like on guitar amps. And the "doesn't need a stand" rocks. I've played a couple festivals where the sound man ran one of those under my Twin Reverb's handle and let it hang in front of one of the speakers. problem is I already have a good shorty mic stand and a few SM-57's I've been using so I've been cheaping out on getting the Senn. since I'm down to only one weekly gig I can't justify it....until I get really lazy

The 906 is the only non-condenser/ribbon I've liked at all! Most of the time I'm condenser but the right condenser with the right ribbon combo is magical! The 906 acts as a "want something a little different" or "more" on tap that doesn't take up space!

57's are a pain. On-axis, off-axis, distance, where you point it, they CAN sound really good but man-oh-man, are they sensitive to placement. BUT- they excel at eliminating bleed over and keeping separation in the mix, so that's the trade off.
Fractal solves all those problems, lol.
hey man, sorry about the previous post, the "quote" function on this site is a bit weird to me yet. My bad.

Yea, for me it's a case of if I want separation, I'd rather use a Senn 906 - and it sounds better than the 57 to boot and doesn't need a mic stand ever!

Yea, the Sterling stuff is usually solid for the money (and punches a bit above itse weight). I paid for my Senns ages ago and other than replacing the ear covers once a decade or so I don't need to upgrade or swap at this point though.
