I sold the 2 Daking 500 series compressors I had as well as an old ATV transmission I had lying around. I also sold an ATV ignition stator assembly I had on Ebay for over a year. I listed a couple Eminence OEM speakers to sell as well but haven't gotten any bites on them yet. I'm building my gear fund back up to a reasonable level.
I have had a stereo SSL UltraViolet EQ for my API Lunchbox on order for a month and they are expected to come off backorder soon. I already had the money for that. I am going to order a Capi 11 space 500 series rack kit and assemble it myself but they are also on backorder and don't know when they will be available. Hopefully soon. I might get 2, build them both, and sell one of them to make a couple hundred bucks when they get scarce again. Once I get the new rack I can sell my API 6 space rack. Then I have plans to get a second Great River MP-500NV mic preamp so I will have a pair of them to record stereo tracks with. If this all works out I'll have nice new gear, there won't be any out of pocket expense, and I'll have money left over.
I'm a little surprised that all of this came about from trading my Neumann U89 for some nice gear in an API lunchbox. Initially I was just going to sell the Neumann and buy some new gear. This 500 series stuff kind of snuck up on me. I never expected to get so enamored with it.
This chip shortage and supply chain stuff is going to make me require GAS therapy.

I'm sure there are clinical explanations for GAS, but what fun is that? With the absence of my muse I've taken (once again) to obsessing over guitars. While confronting the reality that I have too many and need to scale back I bought a cheap 50's style P bass (because, ya know, gotta have 1 strung with flats and 1 with rounds) and built another Tele. I'm already pondering if I got the "right neck on that one." My pedalboard is more loaded than ever before and I barely use it. I got some alnico 5 bars on order to try a swap for the A2 ones in a P90.
They say that idle hands are the devil's workshop so I keep telling myself it's to keep busy. But maybe I'm just working in Beelzebub's sweatshop, lol.

But maybe I'm just working in Beelzebub's sweatshop, lol. For some guys it's a bigger TV, for some it's a new truck or guns. I'm a music nerd so I do tekkie stuff. Everyone has to obsess over something. Nothing wrong with a guitar gear obsession. That's where all of my madness originated. I have way more guitars than I really need but I consider myself a recording guitarist though I almost never get paid for doing it but I have the options just in case I do. As a recording guitar player I should have a reasonable amount of tonal guitar options to cover whatever pops up. A Strat, Tele, Les Paul, 335-ish option, couple different acoustic 6 strings, a nylon string classical, a resonator, a 12 string electric and acoustic, a bass with flatwounds and one with roundwounds, an electric with a floating trem for the metal-ish stuff, etc. I even have an electric sitar just BECAUSE. There are still a few more boxes I'd like to check like a baritone, a PRS, a hollow body Gretsch with Filtertrons, a P90 solid body, and I'd like to have a pedal steel just because I love that big fat clean sound. That's nothing another $25k or $30k wouldn't buy. SHEESH! Then there's the recording gear I jones for. A 2 bus compressor, a couple API 550a EQ's, microphones microphones microphones, more acoustic treatments, better monitors, better converters, etc. etc. etc. I could burn through $100k pretty fast. If I won a sizeable lottery I would build a designated studio space. There's another $200k for the facility without the gear. That's if I built it on our current property. All-in-all a half mil would cover about everything. Any more than that and I would just be feeding my extravagance.

You'd also at that point need an EMT plate verb.
Just because.

I will likely pick up a new 12 string acoustic, intrigued by a Bari acoustic, and would like a fretless bass. Also better multitrack. Have to sell the house 1st.

I gave in and got the Warm Audio Centavo incoming.
I was VERY happy with their Jet Phaser clone, and thought, self, you deserve another toy.

I have been having more pains lately. I bought a Capi VPR 511, 11 space, 500 series rack kit that arrived yesterday. Now I have to put it together. This morning I found a good deal on a second Great River mic preamp on Reverb so I ordered it as well. When I get the new 500 rack built I'll swap out all the modules from the 6 space API rack and put the API up for sale. I took my Sigma acoustic to my guitar tech last week to have him dress the frets and cut a new nut for it. It had some buzzes and such that made it unusable for recording. It should be ready this week.
After all this, I am done for awhile. Yeah, RIGHT!
