Well, after talking about searching for a quality dread, and a Gibson in particular, I finally bought a nice J35 on Reverb and it arrived this morning. I gave it all day to acclimate and I opened it up this evening. It's pretty much what I expected - thumpy bass, lots of volume when you need it, and that dry Gibson tone. It'll make a great counterpoint to my Martin 000c-16. The only thing to get used to is the 1.72" nut width, and the neck to match. After feeling cramped on the Martin's 1-1/16" nut, I wanted something wider so here it is. The neck itself is allegedly on the thicker side, but it seems comfortable enough to me. I expected something with wide-shouldered but the profile is somewhat relieved just behind the fretboard. Not sure what to call the profile. I didnt spend much time trying out different dreads, but I knew I wanted a Gibson. I dont need to nitpick the subtle differences between a J45, J50, etc. I'm happy with the tones I can pull from this guitar. Plenty of sonic space to explore. And inspire me to new music.

Way cool!!
The 2016 J45 I have, the neck is big. The closest thing to it I've had was a Yamaha classical guitar many many years ago.

Looking up neck profiles, and I would classify this one as a C shape-to-soft V. Although I'm used to the neck on my Martin, I've always considered it on the small side. So I'm fine with this. I spent alot of time with the guitar last night and I'm totally digging the vibe. I don't know if the seller had put new strings on it before shipping, but they are certainly fresh. I tried to A/B it with my 000C and I realized just how old the strings are on it in comparison.
