I’ve been looking at them for a Rolex that was initially handed down it to my brother, he didn’t want to spend the money on it’s service, when he found out how much it cost. I gave him dad’s service detective Smith and Wesson in trade, which he gave back to me when his wife told him to get rid of fo the revolver. It’s easier and less expensive to use a winder than let it just sit. The Rolex is a really nice watch, I don’t wear it all the time. I’m hard on watches. My bang around watch is the Casio Waveceptor Tough Solar, which resets the time every night with the atomic signal. This one is exactly the one I have and the correct year. sabiwatches.com/product/1963-rolex-oyster-perpetual-datejust-1601

If you don't wear it regularly, you can just set it when you wear it. Also-it is more wear on the watch if it's in a winder 7 days a week. The cheap winders always die within a year. Also, they go off every time we have a power surge/outage.

I just wear mine every day and thus avoid the need.

Generally in the watch community most people tend to agree that unless it's something really hard and time consuming to set like a perpetual calendar, it's not worth keeping watches without major complications on a winder. I however somewhat disagree. I have two cheapo Seikos I wear at work during the week. They aren't real difficult to set being the only complications are the day and date, but I like to keep them on winders so I don't have to hassle with setting them all the time. YMMV Can I ask what Rolex it is? And can you post a pic for us watch dorks??

I’m a winder user, but I’m looking at dual ones since I recently picked up a pair of nicer than my Seiko automatics. This is the cheap single one I use now: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09BKMB94S

Nice watch Mike! That is a keeper for sure…I am more about sentimental but doesn’t hurt that it is a Rolex too

I put the Rolex back in the box. I’m tough on watches. I pulled out a couple of Hamiltons l purchased over the years, I found them in the back of a jewelry drawer, that is actually a wood carpenters box. Both of them started right up. It’s a pain getting the date right. I also keep my knives in this box, including my Swiss Army knives, which l have a bunch of too.
l’m going to use one for awhile. I looked at the currant cost of these older watches, can’t recall what I paid but it was a lot less. Than $549.00!
The watch that has been on my wrist for years is the Casio G shock CASIO Waveceptor. It gets a signal every night that sets the time, according to location, including daylight savings time. This solar powered watch is always exact. When i’m not using it I set it in a window. In the many years I’ve used this watch, in tough wilderness environments, generally beating it up, it has never failed to accurately keep the time and day with zero fidgeting from me.
