I was recently given a box of old guitar related stuff from the wife/widow of an old friend of mine. He played guitar. Among the contents were a Maestro Fuzz-Tone and a King Vox-Wah both of early 70's vintage.
I am not a fan of fuzz, but after spending some time with it and combining it with a little amp over drive, it makes some really cool sounds. I wouldn't gig with it, but the sounds are definitely usable for recording. What a great surprise.
The wah wah has a very short throw on the pedal making it much nicer to use than many of the other wahs I've tried.
But the biggest surprise is what these things seem to be worth!

Yeah, I'm not a fuzz enthusiast either. That spitty-octavey-noise just bothers me. Fuzz can sound good if dialed back a bit but I'd much rather use an overdrive of sorts.
Not a wah fan either. I feel they are usually way overused. When the guitar player can't find something useful to play the wah often comes on and that bugs me.
Now, get offa my lawn.

Ha! I'm not sure what music you're listening to, but I love a good wah wah sound on occasion! Fuzz? It has it's place. Long as it's not at my place. It is kinda cool when mixed with a little OD too.

The Maestro is worth coin because of the hipsters and the fuzz revival mostly.
With a good EE in your contact list who can tune circuits, any of it is so easy to have made for cheapish it's not funny.
The only problem is he throws away 99/100 germanium transistors as not sounding good, but the results are..worth it.

I picked up one of these several years ago. It does the 'Maestro Fuzz' sound for a whole lot less money.

Haven’t had a Fuzz since 1968. Very cool back then and useful for some of the songs back in the day.

I have more fuzz than any other dirtboxes - there's more variety and how they interact is different than anything else.

I have exactly 1 fuzz pedal. The Supro 1304. I am not a fuzz aficionado, but I really like it.

Great pedals, telebob. Like you, I am not a regular user of fuzz in a live situation. However, I've found that fuzz is unmatched when used as a texture, especially in a studio situation. It seems to find its way into most of our records.

I had a Maestro Fuzztone from the 70s. I really didn’t like it and thought maybe something was wrong with it. Absolutely no sustain. I got a Fender Blender shortly after and was in love with that. Yeah, I think something was wrong with that Maestro. This one: reverb.com/p/maestro-fuzz-tone-fz-1s

I will never sell my Orange Crush. Can't play Steely Dan without it.
Good stuff Bob! Fuzz, like ANY effect is only as good as the player using it and their ability to apply it musically.
I'm just a dumbass working guitar player and not an "artiste" so my job is to use what the song requires, and sometimes that means the old Dallas Arbiter (or today it's rackmount model!) gets stepped on.
Then I pack my stuff and get my pay.
I learned early in my pilot career that for every person who can actually fly an airplane, there are thousands who never have but will be happy to tell you all about it in exquisite detail. I find the same phenomenon prevalent in the music business, lol.
Anyhoo, similar experience here this week. I was in search of an analog Wah for a Cream tribute band that asked me to cover some shows and in serendipitously, during the process of moving crap around cleaning up my shop I found my old, original Morely wah. Holy schmuckers are people paying dollars for old stuff!

I had a Univox Super Fuzz back in the 60s, the one with the blue oval label. My first pedal. I see they are crazy expensive now. The Behringer fuzz is a worthy replacement.

J Mascis is a fuzz aficionado. It becomes his boost, and he then adds more
