Cleaning the cat litter box is one of my least favorite chores. It's like the beasts are excreting gorilla glue as their "business" gets fused to the walls. Just for the heck of it, after the last deep cleaning, I coated the box with some silicon dioxide car protectant. What a difference! Cleaning is as easy as removing a fried egg from a well buttered pan.

Our cat of 10+ years bolted out the front door one night - never to be seen again.
We’re sad that Casper is gone, but no more cats for us.

A few years ago My daughter’s cat bolted out the doggy door one night to get away from my daughter’s pug who just wanted to play. He went over the fence and a Coyote got him. So no more cats for us.

Funny, but this is an invention that I've wondered why it hasn't come into existence yet (as far as I know) - the teflon-coated litter box.

I know teflon is toxic to birds, but not sure it's effects on cats. My wife bought a stainless steel one and that seemed to work pretty good at non-sticking the gifts left behind.

I mix a corn cob litter with a clay based one and it clumps and dries perfect, easy to clean.
I've had cats for over 45 years, this best mix I discovered only a few years back.
Best ever.

For 20 years we had 2 feral cats (brothers) who lived on our (seasonally enclosed ) porch, but otherwise were free roaming and didn't need a cat box. The oldest one died over a year ago, and so in April of '23 we got two new kittens, thinking we would replicate the same deal, as we rely on the cats to keep the mouse/ vole population down. Unfortunately, though they will use the great outdoors, they prefer the litter boxes, which we had vowed to never use. We use a sand based material which clumps up and so isn't too difficult to clean, but the other day I did fracture the scoop being a bit too aggressive with the scraping, so thanks for the tip- I'll try some Armor All next cleaning.

My tip is to use a metal scooper in the litterbox. Plastic ones will crack. Spend a little more up front for one that will last for years.

The extra-large stainless steel box arrived today and I coated it with the protectant. As soon as my wife mixes up her blend of corn litter and the lightweight stuff, I'll give it a try. Well, not me personally, the cats will give it a try.
