Love the Hellecasters, they're my idea of "shred". Each member brings something different to the table. Sadly Jerry Donahue suffered a catastrophic stroke in 2016 and last I heard would never play guitar again.

Thanks for the link, I have that on VHS somewhere and haven't watched it in many years.

"On Terra Firma" is a really beautiful song, IMHO.
Perhaps my second favorite amongst their repertoire:

The way they fit together was spectacular. Jorgensen's all around skill and shred, Donahue's ability to go from hauntingly melodic phrases to wild bendy gymnastics, and Will Ray's sense of humor.
I remember the first time I heard them was at a Guitar Center in Michigan. The manager was clearly a fan and playing their record in the store and a bunch of younger employees were kinda dissing the selection. I was mesmerized and landed up talking to the manager about the trio and quickly picked up the CD, been a fan ever since.

One of my faves centered around Will Ray's "sense of humor"

Will Ray moved in next door to some friends of ours. I was invited to the neighborhood BBQ and jam set up in the cul-de-sac several years ago. I nervously jammed for a while, but the highlight of the day was sitting in the street in a camping chair eating chocolate cake and talking about life with Will.
I have had the honor of sharing stage time with Will since as he used to host a jam night at a local church turned music room and he'd play whatever you called out. One time I screwed up the intro to Johnny B Goode so badly, we had to stop, which is the absolute no no. I was so sick to my stomach after screeching to a halt, Will stepped up to the mic and said, "Well, at least no one was injured during that."
I'm proud to call him an acquaintance.

"Well, at least no one was injured during that." That's hilarious!
