I do the wordle every day just for fun. My wife and kids all do it too and we share/compare scores and thought process. We all have different starting words and strategies. My son likes to randomly pick a starting word to add to the challenge. I keep the same word, but challenge myself by trying to lower my average.
My personal goal is to average under 4. So far I'm doing pretty well. I've got 288 consecutive days and my average is about 3.7. I had a similar run before I got my new phone, but the average there was closer to 3.9.
I calculate by using these values: For successful guesses I assign a value equal to the number of guesses. For a failure I assign a 7. Add 'em up, divide by number of puzzles played.
This is pretty easy since the stats are shown every day. I had to calculate failures as it doesn't give those numbers, but it does list total games played and winning percentage.
We all also play octordle daily as well.

I immediately envisioned some sort of track & field event, but I'm starting to suspect that that might not be what you're talking about...

i do it occasionally. i usually solve in 3 to 4 tries. 4 is a little ahead. i also have fun with the CONNECTIONS puzzle. that's a real brain twister for me.

Yep, every morning. Just finished today's.
There are about 10 of us that then post to the FB page of the group leader.
Some people go for the long winning streak. I don't care about that, my goal is to solve each puzzle in two. Rarely happens, but it's fun when it does.

There are several of us in our family that do Wordle every day. I use the same starting word because some day it's going to BE that word. I'm impressed with your 288 consecutive days Slacker. It seems that every time I get a long streak going, I end up in a puzzle that has three guesses left and five words that still fit the pattern. You need to be both good and a little lucky to keep those streaks alive.

Yes, my wife and I do our own each morning. Recently I've been trying to use as a first word something that will be "unlucky" according to the bot. This means something with a U and no other vowels if possible. A few days ago my pick left about 1300 words , so challenge met!
