Ok, so I'm late to the party, but a good friend of mine used to rave about them...and he used to play with some top notch stuff...like late 50's Les Pauls, early Marshall's, and early Mesa's....
We have one in our shop for sale...and I've fiddled around with it some and I like it...so I brought it home and took the back panel off...after doing some research there's been a lot of revisions to the amp over the years......MIM, the tan PSB, is stamped 2003, the Eminence speaker code, if I'm reading it correctly, is 67 0806...and that tells me 2008...the tubes are all Fender labeled Groove tube so I'm assuming their original..
Everything on the board looks pretty solid... no visible issues, and it sounds great...and no visible mods
So someone tell me what I'm dealing with before I sink any dough into it...our price is more than reasonable at $350...and I can get it for less...
I guess I'm looking for input from those that have/had them and what their opinions are...

Not trying to turn you off to it, and it’s only my opinion…but to me it doesn’t have enough headroom. Too boxy sounding. I prefer the Princeton Reverb.

At that price you can't go wrong. Nice amp and you can play small venues with it. Agree with Ryder that a Princeton sounds better to my ear but I'm not sure you can pick one up for less than $350. Here is a video I did some time ago.

I bought mine in '05, did a few BillM mods at some point...I still dig it. i find the "boxy" description quite inaccurate. It's not 100% fender, it's not a marshall, it's somewhere in between and can approximate both quite well. For less then $350 I'd grab it, can't even get a ProJr around here for that (not that they come up often) and the Blues Jrs are at least five bills. I don't find the headroom an issue. If you're looking for loud and clean, well, 15 watts ain't gonna give it to ya.

ok..it sounded great at the shop, but once i got it home and played with it in an open garage ive changed my mind...while i could get some really nice grind with tele bridge pickups, the overall tone is just too bright...i couldnt turn the treble past 3 before it was too much..
i really wanted to dig it but to make it into something its not, would have been too much hassle
but at 350 bucks its a deal

With all due respect, expecting anything to sound good in a garage might be a bit much to ask, I think. Hopefully an indoor situation will produce better results for ya. Are you using the fat switch?
