I've done this many times to quiet noisy neighbors. I don't have a Dumble but I do have a Plexi Marshal Stack, dimed for this situation.

I've thought about it but never did. I did once retaliate at our cottage up in Canada. We were on 5.5 acres but one night the neighbor's kids had a late night party. I don't know if it's the heavy granite slabs that lie below but the bass was shaking the walls until the wee hours. So around 6 a.m. I went to the woodpile that borders their property and fired up the chainsaw and did a prolonged solo to "The Lumberjack" by Jackyl.

Howling, high-decibel, psychedelic feedback still has its uses...
But timing is everything: one should not do these things while the neighbor's too-loud par-tay is in progress.
No-no, one waits until the festivities have wound down and all the attendees have passed out.
Then (say...about 5-AM) and only then, should one "let it rip"...

^That's why I waited until 6am to give the lads that were sleeping it off a prolonged blast from the Homelite.
The problem with declaring a sonic war is that things escalate and there is collateral damage. I can think of more effective ways but it involves breaking and entering. And a banjo. 🤣

When I lived in a condo, I shared a wall with some noisy neighbors. Some nights it was like a chorus line of Sumo wrestlers were throwing themselves against that common wall. I hooked up my two 2x15 bass cabinets to my mega-wattage stereo, put the cabs facing the wall and played one of my video/editing sound effects tapes at "11". Specifically, the ground shaking earthquake effect. Took about a minute to make my point. They were much subdued after that.

Its the bass that drives me nuts. Someone in my neighborhood had something going on for a while, I couldn't tell what it was. One moment I was sure it was someone playing bass guitar, then I thought it might be a gamer playing video games. It was omnipresent. Even standing outside in my robe at 1 a.m. I couldn't even tell what direction it was coming from.

sadly this has become an increasing problem in my community. Usually people call the police to enforce noise ordinances. Had neighbor who had to call three times before her neighbor quieted down. She reminded the responding sergeant that the neighbor was not only violating the ordinance but disrespecting his authority. sign of the times I guess.

you really don't want to get in a war w/ your neighbors if possible, it almost never ends well I'd find a way to diffuse the situation so nobody wakes up w/slashed tires or worse....

There seems to be 3 categories for such behavior.
Thoughtless/oblivious things like leaving a yapping dog outside all day or night long.
Too much exuberance like a party or a jam session (been guilty in years past)
A deliberate extension of one's own obnoxious personality and need for attention and misanthropic ways.
Sadly the latter seems to be escalating. If your fenders are dropping chunks of rust at an intersection and my face looks like it's going through a NASA G-force simulation, then you're a tool. "Rollin' Coal" is another demonstration; deliberately blowing smoke from a modified diesel engine.

I did that once. I was home from work sick as a dog with bronchitis. I was on all kinds of decongestants and was having trouble sleeping. Just as I dozed off one afternoon my next door neighbor decided to work out in his garage. His truck was in the driveway which was about 15 feet from the window next to my bed. He opened all the doors and cranked up his stereo. That woke me up and pissed me off. I took my 5150 half stack and pointed it out of the window and put it to 11. After I played without stopping for about 5 minutes I quit. He had gotten the message and turned his stereo off. Probably because he couldn't make it loud enough to be heard over 120 very loud tube watts through a 4-12 cabinet 15 feet away. He apologized a couple days later. He did give me a compliment about how well I could play. I apologized as well and told him why I did it. He understood.
