It’s been an unusually mild winter here too. Right now, all the snowmobile trails are closed (lack of snow) and the local authorities are advising caution to those venturing out on the lakes. Lots of local businesses depend on a normal season of sledding, X country skiing and ice fishing.

So... you have a surplus of firewood this year, Roly?

It's an El Nino year....was supposed to be warmer than usual. We were that way until early January. Then we got blasted with 4 storms to the tune of 25" of snow and temps where the highs were -15F with wind chills in the -40 range. That lasted about 10 days. Now were back to warmer weather today (37 when I left for work at 7am today).

So... you have a surplus of firewood this year, Roly? I hope so, we don’t need another axe to the face debacle.

70 degrees and sunny here today. Went to PEETS for my latte fix with the top down on my car.
Atmospheric river about to nail us tomorrow and the next three days. Won't be much fun for the golfers playing in the AT&T at Pebble Beach this week...

we just went thru a couple weeks of abnormally cold weather for southern KY. i live in deep valley and it was -14F several nights and in the teen and low 20's daytime. a town abt 30 miles south of me was the coldest in the lower 48 at -21. we are about normal this week with projections of more winter for late next week. as i remember December was colder too. in fact, the whole fall was chilly... i can heat this house with a propane fireplace, the heatpump doesn't come on until it gets around 10 degs F... i remember using the fireplace several nights in the middle of October. i usually don't until after Halloween.

Cold down here in the south. It got down to 20 degrees last week, then was up to 70 by the weekend. This is the 2nd year in a row we've had below freezing. If this keeps up, I'm going to have to start winterizing my house like I did when I lived in Wisconsin!
