Remember the scene where meathead says "you'd put ketchup on roast beef" and Archie says "If it needed it"! I have been into ketchup big time lately. On a lot of stuff. A LOT. A LOT.

Once I had an order of fries in a basket while talking to a client. He asked for a couple, I asked if he wanted any ketchup. He said fries aren't that good for you and proceeded to tell me how bad ketchup is, he knew all the bad ingredients by heart. That said I like it, Heinz only unless from scratch thank you.

It has it's place.
I used Chickentail sauce on my deep fried mozzeralla sticks tonight....

My favorite ketchup is/was Brooks Tangy, which appears to have limited distribution these days. It may now be produced in Canada but was once made in Collinsville, IL, near where I grew up. A reasonable facsimile can be created by adding some Tabasco or Crystal to another brand.

I put it on french fries and fish sticks, that is about the sum total of it.

I worked with a guy, years ago, who unashamedly put it on just about everything.
We were at a nice steak house for a department dinner, one evening. You guessed it.

My brother-in-law will demand Heinz ketchup (no other brand will do) at the finest steakhouse in the world. He'll likely order the steak well done. He isn't uncultured, just weird in that way.
I use ketchup for fries, hamburgers (along with yellow mustard and mayo), and yes, hotdogs. I make my own kochtail sauce (hah, take that, filter!) using ketchup, horseradish, lemon, garlic and worcestershire sauce.
It has its place in my kitchen.

A burger is the only thing I use ketchup on. And if there's a choice of ketchup or tomato, I'll take the fruit every time.

Speaking of burgers, my mom use to make the best cheeseburgers in the world. Friends would love to stay over for dinner just to indulge. It has been a topic between my brothers and me. The other day my wife whipped up a quick meal for our grandson after gymnastics practice and fried a couple burgers in a pan on the stove top. I could hear my dad's voice echoing in my head "It smells like a GD Greek restaurant in here!"
But there they were, cheeseburgers just like mom made them.
Apparently I've been over-thinking the magic, lol.

I gave it up after discovering “Homade” brand chili sauce. Besides, I was born in the cradle of fry sauce country so traditional ketchup took the back seat a long time ago.

My dad, whom I'll admit was pretty snobby about food and such, bought the finest steaks he could get, from the best butcher in town, to grill for dinner when my sister (no pics) was having her fiancé over for dinner. So Dad asked him how he wants his steak..."well done" of course is the reply. Dad gritted his teeth and grilled it well done.
Then we're at the table, just finished grace and the fiancé picks up his fork and knife, and with a ham-fisted grip on each he looks around the table and says "You got any ketchup?". I thought my dad was gonna blow a gasket.

A burger is the only thing I use ketchup on. And if there's a choice of ketchup or tomato, I'll take the fruit every time. I am hard pressed to think of an instance where barbecue sauce doesn't do the job of ketchup better.

I like ketchup on fries, chili dogs, and burgers. I’m a fan of many condiments.

When I think back to my childhood, I didn’t eat ketchup on anything. I would even scrape if off the meatloaf.

Another flashback.
When we were young and our parents would take us to McDonalds, my sister would order a cheeseburger with pickles, mustard and ketchup. My standard was a hamburger with pickles only.

My Grandmother lived with us and would only eat meat well done, any meat. She had lost a young brother to food poisoning, which was not that rare back in the day, and everything got thoroughly cooked at our house. Dad cooked ours to medium rare and Grandmother's to very well done. She never finished her steak, always a good chunk left over. So, the next day, my treat was well-done steak, refrigerator cold, with ketchup! Don't knock it till you've tried it!
